Need some holiday self care? Look no further than 7th Heaven!

Pamper your friends with  7th Heaven’s  cruelty-free, vegan and EASY peel-off masks! Available in several ‘ flavors,’ such as  Coconut & Clay, Tea Tree and Dead Sea,  these de-stressing masks use luxurious  natural  ingredients to reveal glowing, fresher, cleaner skin.

Each mask comes in a generous single-serve sachet and retails for $1.99 - a real stocking stuffer steal!

My Thoughts:

I love the products from, 7th Heaven! I have used their face masks over the last few years and have always found relaxation and beautiful skin afterward! 7th Heaven was kind enough to let me try three of their awesome "flavors". Each mask was left on for about twenty minutes and all had a unique purpose. I was happy with each mask and can say they are the perfect stocking stuffers for those who love and/or are in need of a good treat yourself day.

If you're looking for a mask perfect for getting into the problem areas like the t-zone, I'd highly recommend the Tea Tree Peel-Off Mask. Witchhazel, Tea Tree, and Willowherb are the three main power ingredients in this all-natural mask. When I applied the product, it felt very cool and tingly on my skin. It hardens as you relax and comes off with ease. Having combination skin, I felt this a great fit for me because it left my skin looking smooth, shiny, and cleaned up in my problem areas.
This mask was such an interesting experience. It is thick and creamy and yet hardens just like 7th Heaven's traditional masks. I would say this mask had a much tighter feel as it hardened. Though it wasn't uncomfortable at all. It felt like it was firming my skin in a good way. This mask is truly a wonderful one for multitasking. It has hydrating coconut oil and the healing benefits of seaweed and natural clay. My skin felt so soft and bright afterward. It also pulled out some blackheads as well.

I've always been a fan of dead sea products. I was excited to try this mask out. It smelled amazing upon opening the packaging. The three primary ingredients are dead sea salt, seaweed, and chamomile. If you're something looking for something good for cleansing and purifying the skin, this is the mask for you. The chamomile also adds a soothing element so your skin won't dry out from the cleansing. This is a great choice for acne-prone skin or those looking to up their skin cleansing routine.

Product Review: Cocoroo's Total Rejavanation Coffee Bean Body Scrub

While a lot of people are thinking about the food that they're consuming, some don't realize that the products that they put on their bodies every day are potentially bad for them as well, containing a host of questionable ingredients. That's why I'm always on the lookout for products that are safe to use, and this one is my latest try.

I'm used to most of the other washes I've used that have a more creamy, gel-like texture, so I was a bit surprised with this one. It breaks down into coffee grouns basically when you rub it in. It feels nice, as the slightly rougher texture is getting a deep clean going. I mostly concentrated on my face with it, and it didn't disappoint. Made of organic beans as well as a host of beneficial oils (warning for those with allergies--there are various nut oils in here.) You can see the product page with all the ingredients here

The thing I liked most is how my skin felt right after I used it. I ended up feeling as though I'd put on moisturizer and the feeling lasted for quite a while after I finished washing. Overall, I great addition to my beauty routine.

Please visit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation for information on how you can help.

My Thoughts:

Having sensitive skin I am careful about what I use when it comes to skin care. After reading up on the mission and ideals of Lady Soma, it was clear this was a company that took the body seriously. In this day and age there are too many products on the market filled with harsh chemicals. You hear of people getting drying, stinging, redness, and peeling from products that are suppose to be helping them heal and feel good about themselves! Lady Soma wants to bring that vision back by providing the highest quality items that are truly good for your skin!

I was thankful to receive three fantastic products from Lady Soma that I've been using every day since they arrived. The item I began my new regime with was the Sea Salt and Bee Pollen Mineral Toner. To be honest, toners are not something that has been a part of my skin care routine in years. They never seemed to do a lot for me, only sting and dry out my face. However, this toner was a blessing! After cleansing the toner was applied over my skin and neck. It smelled amazing, spread easily, and soaked into my pores quickly. There was no residue left over or sticky feeling. This speciality toner restores facial pH levels while also helping to boost radiance, circulation, hydrate, while also helping your skin aid in the natural healing process. I noticed within a week of using this toner that my complexion improved, left over marks from blackhead clearing had healed up, and my face was a lot smoother. I'm truly in love with this product! No more skipping the toner for me!

The second product I used right after the Sea Salt and Bee Pollen Toner was the Triple Collagen Eye Repair Gel. This was a fantastic addition to my skin care regime. Unlike other eye gels, Lady Soma's SomeLuxe brand brings you an all in one experience. Not only does the Tripe Collagen Eye Repair Gel assist in helping to build firmness and elasticity, it also helps those who have puffy eyes, redness, and dark eye circles. The gel can also be used under makeup, moisturizer, or other speciality serum products. I noticed a reduction in my puffiness that I experience under my eyes, as well as improvement in my dark circles. Couldn't have been more pleased!

Lastly, I tried the luscious Lip Rescue: Collagen + Peptide Complex. I've tried my fair share of lip balms and sticks. Lip Rescue is probably the most unique product I have used due to the formula. Not only does it contain three types of collagen peptides to restore your lips, it provides an elastin boost by using plant stem cells and hyaluronic acid. Lip Rescue contains no harsh chemicals and can even help to prevent lip wrinkles, lines, and tears. Not only are you hydrating your lips from the harsh weather, you're also protecting them from damage as well. I've never seen a product quite like this one! After use throughout the day and before bed, I'd wake up the next morning to un-chapped and soft lips!

7th Heaven Dead Sea Peel-Off Mask Review.

The Dead Sea Peel-Off Mask from 7th Heaven harnesses the therapeutic properties of Dead Sea salts and seaweed.  Wear it while relaxing, and then peel off to reveal naturally glowing, fresher, cleaner skin. The mask features crushed sea salt crystals to deep cleanse and purify, seaweed to fight free radicals, and chamomile to soothe. Only $2.50 for each single serve mask.

My Thoughts:

I was thrilled to try these masks from 7th Heaven. I have enjoyed the products I've used by them in the past, so I knew this was going to be a great new addition. These masks are lovely!

Before applying, I began by cleansing my face before use. I opened the packs and instantly smelled the potent aroma. It was relaxing and energizing. The product was nice and thick. There's plenty of it in the pouch. It is easy to spread all over the face. The Dead Sea masks holds up well and do not fall off during application. You can feel the mask begin to dry as you relax.

At first I got a cold sensation on my face after putting it on, but it didn't last long. At about the 20 minute mark I could feel the mask beginning to peel naturally. It was extremely easy to remove and came off almost completely together. The smell of the mask also stayed on my face and hands for a few hours. That evening I got into the shower before bed and cleansed my face. Afterwords, I applied my moisturizer and realized that some of my blackheads appeared to be closer to the surface. I had no issues removing them. I definitely think the mask had something to do with that!

A tip for use: As you apply the mask, try not to get any in your hair. It will end up drying and flaking off. The first time I applied this it happened to me so I had to take some water and rinse. Despite that, this mask made me skin feel so smooth and radiant. Something I love about the 7th Heaven products too is that they are natural and good for your skin. This Dead Sea variety of their peel off masks is made with sea salt, seaweed, and soothing chamomile. A great combination for glowing skin! I highly recommend it.

The Apple Cider Vinegar Companion by Suzy Scherr

Imagine there was one magical elixir that could do it all, from curing a sore throat to killing weeds, from clearing up skin troubles to sanitizing a cutting board. This miracle product is real, and everything you need to know about it is in The Apple Cider Vinegar Companion: Simple Ways to Use Nature’s Miracle Cure by Suzy Scherr.  50 color photographs.

Step aside, kale and chia seeds—apple cider vinegar is the original superfood. Inexpensive, easy to find, and astonishingly versatile, ACV can be used everywhere, from kitchen to bathroom to garden, as well as in everything from barbecue sauce to donuts to all-natural energy drinks. Saving money, going green, feeling and looking better—this book is the ultimate guide to making the most of every bottle!

The multitasking superfood is delicious, too!

Generations of devotees have sworn by apple cider vinegar: cooking with it, swigging it by the spoonful, and using it as a remedy for just about any ailment. Why? The tart, fermented flavor certainly can add a punch to any recipe, but it’s also great for weight-loss, digestion, and overall good health. It makes a mean natural cleanser, relieves muscle soreness, and even treats bug bites. The Apple Cider Vinegar Companion is the essential guide, with information on how to make your own, and tips and tricks for using it for household tasks. This book stands out from similar titles because of the wonderful recipes, such as:

Dill Pickle Potato Salad
Easy Homemade Farmer’s Cheese
Homemade Spiced Ketchup
Raspberry-Peach Shrub
Green Tea and Apple Cider Vinegar Tonic

Our Thoughts
I keep a variety of vinegars in my house, and specifically two kinds of apple cider vinegar - the good kind, and the cheap kind.

The good kind is for eating and natural skin care.  The cheap kind is for cleaning and fruit fly traps.

I keep the fruit fly traps out all summer long - been doing it for years and let me tell you, it works! The only thing I add to Suzy's recipe is a wee bit of maple syrup - seems to attract the fruit flies faster.  The flies tire of the trap after 2-3 days, so you need to refresh it often to keep ahead of them.  (Find All-Natural Fruit Fly Trap on pg 160 of The Apple Cider Vinegar Companion.)

Almost every single recipe in The Apple Cider Vinegar Companion's section on Household Uses is used in our home - from cleaners to deodorizers, ACV is a must-have.

I don't know about you, but I can taste the difference between the good stuff and the cheap stuff - hence why I keep the good stuff for eating and skin care. The good stuff has, well, a more rounded flavor. Plus it's full of all sorts of beneficial bacteria, enzymes, and nutrients!

This book is filled with tasty recipes from the super easy basic AVC vinaigrette into marinades, chutneys, salads, pickles, drinks, smoothies, on into baked goods.  And there's even a section on how to make your own ACV! (It's really easy!)

The recipe highlighted here is the Crab Salad with Apples and Chives (pg 75). My mom, who shares a love of cooking, brought over some fresh crab legs so we of course did one of our favorite things - tried a new recipe!  We both enjoyed it, although we used a small, early Harrelson apple off of my tree instead of a Granny Smith.  We both enjoyed the dish, but agreed the apple would have been better as a tart-sweet apple rather than just tart.

The drink recipes (Fire Cider, Shrubs, Spiced Berry Warmer) have me looking forward to the cold weather and a new variety of tasty tonics for spring.

Want to get started using (and making!) apple cider vinegar in your home? Get The Apple Cider Vinegar Companion - you won't be disappointed!  Perfect holiday gift!

Product Review: Mother Dirt

Bacteria is good.

That's the message of this product line that I had the chance to try out. While people take probiotics to restore the good bacteria in our guts that we're coming to understand is crucial to our immune system and overall health, Mother Dirt is using those principles for hair and skin care.

The products use good bacteria, leaving out the harsh chemicals and other ingredients that are in most of the products out there. To learn more about the science, check this page from their website. You can also learn more about how it works here. I had the chance to try the shampoo, the cleanser, and the body mist.

So, how were they? Honestly, I am not particularly loyal to any one shampoo. I prefer to mix up it a bit from time to time, but the shampoo definitely seemed to do the job. I thought my hair looked nice as well. It just doesn't lather like I'm used to with other products, so that was a bit of a surprise and I kept feeling like I should use more.

The body mist was nice, as well. My skin felt nice after using it, which helps cut down on the need for extra moisturizers or body sprays.

The thing I was most impressed with was the cleanser. It definitely made a difference in the appearance and feel of my skin. My face felt clean, and appeared to look smoother. While I like all three, this is definitely the one I want to make a point of getting again.

In addition to furnishing products for review, Mother Dirt is offering a special discount code to anyone who is interested in trying these products themselves. Using the code Myblog25-GF29 at checkout will give a 25% discount as well as free shipping.

Purchase plant stem cell therapy from Made from Earth and connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Google+

Our Thoughts
The stress of the last 10 years has slowly taken its toll on my skin, and I think I now look older than my years.  Or, at least, I look less than my age until I smile . . . then all the wrinkles appear. Not that I avoid smiling, haha . . .  Anyway, I love both making my own and trying out other natural skin care products but have not yet defeated those darn wrinkles. Made from Earth sent my their plant stem cell therapy to try.

Upon opening the jar, the fresh aroma wafted up and the scents I could most easily detect were the delicious scents of (organic) unrefined cocoa butter and the pink grapefruit (a hint of chocolate + citrus - yum!). The cream itself is very thick, yet light and fluffy when applied.  It goes on almost like it just melts into your skin, and does a very good job of moisturizing.  I have tried other products containing plant stem cells, and those so far are my favorites for skin repair.

So far, after using plant stem cell therapy I've noticed my skin looks firmer for about twice the length of time than any other product I've tried has done. Not enough to last all day by any means, or at least not yet.  At first I did use it on my whole face, but ended up having to go back to my own special blend for my T-zone, where I'm most prone to breakouts as I was finding this to not prevent new breakouts. And since my wrinkles are not in the T-zone, that leaves me free to use plant stem cell therapy directly on my facial wrinkles and any other dry, aging areas, like the backs of my hands. I am very interested to see what results plant stem cell therapy produces over the next few months.  It comes in a 2 oz jar, and you need so little that it will last a good long time.

I want to point out Made from Earth's How To Guide, which is full of great information on their ingredients, suggested regimens, tips & advice, and rosacea. I'd also love to try some of their Face Serums and their lip balms look divine, too!

Our Thoughts
I use sea buckthorn berry oil on a regular basis, so it was a no-brainer to review SeabuckWonders berry and seed oils!
Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil is one of the ingredients I put in the facial cream I make for myself.  I have noticed it does help reduce the darker tone that comes with scarring, and helps keep my skin clearer.  Sea buckthorn berry oil is a vibrant orange color, so if applying it neat to the skin you may want to take that into consideration. Because Sea buckthorn berry oil contains all those good omega oils, I've been giving it to my son in addition to the fish oil regimen he's already on.  He's non-verbal and has been on fish oil (DHA/EPA) + evening primrose oil (GLA) for several months now, and while he's still non-verbal with speech apraxia (due to seizures he had as an infant), I can tell both his receptive and expressive communication has exploded since beginning this regimen!  He just expresses it differently, in the way his body allows him to.  The seed oil has different levels of the omega oils than does the berry oil, so I'll be trying that one out with my son, too.  Sometimes it's all about getting the supplement ratios *just right* in conjunction with one another.
Since I'm already familiar with the berry oil, I'm now in process of testing the Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil on myself.  Right now I'm watching it work it's magic on a scar on my leg from an injury sustained this September - this scar will take some time to fade, and it has faded considerably already with the use of the seed oil.   I have noticed that applying the seed oil neat to my face seems to dry it out a bit, which I found unusual.  It has been helping to reduce redness with any skin irritation though.

Sea buckthorn berry and seed oils have a lot to offer - fatty acids, carotenoids, phospholipids and minerals.  SeabuckWonders even has a neat comparison chart between the seed & berry oils on their FAQ's page!  SeabuckWonders recommends taking both the oils for protection from the seasonal flu - packed with Vitamin C & E, SOD, and flavonoids known for their antibacterial and immune system response boosting properties.  We haven't had the flu in this house for well over a decade, and it's nice to know that something I already use is helping us remain flu-free!
SeaBuckWonders not only offers the oil supplements, but also has a skin care line! Their website packed with information, and their Facebook page is a fun browse, too!

Greenchild Creations Natural Skin Care

natural skin care - cloth diapers - crafty things

Greenchild Creations is run by a WAHM, Anne, who loves to create!  Besides a some fantastic cloth diapers, including her unique fitted diaper design, Anne makes natural handmade lotions and cold process soaps.

Orange Petals Hand & Body Lotion 2 oz. $5.00

"Growing up, we used whatever commercial lotion smelled nice. I remember having terribly raw, red, chapped hands as a child. In my later teens, I switched to more natural lotions. They smelled great, but I needed to apply them all the time to keep my skin moisturized, which, since they smelled so good I really didn't mind. But I still had really dry, itchy skin in the cold winter months.

In my twenties I worked in the natural skin care industry for a few years and learned quite a bit. Those "more natural" lotions I thought were better still had petrochemicals and other artificial ingredients. At the time, my father had recently passed away from cancer so I really wanted to make healthy changes in my life. I had always been interested in nature and natural remedies, and it was time to get it in high gear.

I bought books on soap and lotion making, took classes, and began creating cold process soap and made-from-scratch lotions & salves in my own kitchen. My first attempts were . . . less than pretty, LOL!! My first attempt at soap I discovered I don't like olive oil as a main ingredient - one of the ingredients, yes, but not the main ingredient. That yields a greenish-yellow, slimy, low-lather bar. It cleaned, but it wasn't anything like the luxurious cold process soaps I'd previously used. My first attempt at lotion I used beeswax and borax together as the emulsifier - tricky getting the amounts right, but it did the job! However, it made for a gritty-feeling lotion.

With my mini-successes, I began to purchase better ingredients for the job and have been experimenting ever since. I love to try out different ingredients! There are so many oils, butters, essential oils, and extracts to choose from! And the never-ending list of botanicals . . . I've been successfully making lotions, soaps, and salves for over a decade now.
The best part though, is knowing I'm giving my skin what it needs most - healing, moisturizing goodness right from nature. I only apply twice per day now, and that's more out of habit than need (and because it smells fantastic!). Even with washing my hands what seems like a zillion times per day with diaper duty, I don't need to apply lotion very often - and, a tiny little bit goes a very long way!  The worst part is having to wash my hands in public restrooms when on the go. Oh, I forget how harsh and drying those handsoaps are! Ouch!! I need to remember to keep a small bar of my soap in the diaper bag!!"
