My Thoughts:

Like many people out there, I have had dental insecurities for many years. Growing up, I have seen countless dentists and orthodontists about ways to improve my smile. Some would recommend braces for six months to even three years at one point. Others said my teeth were great and a couple small procedures or veneers would fix them, but they were very pricey and braces would be off the table if I ever did want them. As I got older and decided to go to college, I did not have the time or extra expenses to invest in the process of fixing my smile, yet I still dreamed of my perfect , whiter and more professional looking smile being a reality someday.

My Smile before Instasmile.

My biggest insecurities with my smile had to do with the spacing between my two front teeth. I also had a small fang tooth at the top, a generational tooth passed down to many of us that didn't match the other side. When I heard of Instasmile's clip in veneers via social media, I knew I needed to check out the company. With graduate school coming my way in the next couple of years, it seemed like the best time to look into improving my smile.

I was thrilled to be able to review Instasmile. I placed my order for the upper and lower sets in Classic A1 through the phone and the customer service team explained that first, an impressions kit would be sent to my home. Once received, I could make a webcam appointment, and they would walk me through it. The impression process was a lot easier than expected. Included in my kit was the putty to mix and the trays to take the impressions. The customer service representative walked me through each step from mixing the putty to holding the trays for as long as needed. Once the impressions were approved they were sent off in the box included for the free re-delivery to Instasmile. Once my impressions were received, an email was sent to me with the expected shipping date of my completed veneers.

Once my veneers arrived I was shocked at how beautiful the coloring was and how perfectly shaped they were to my teeth. They were packed safely with an included case with a mirror inside for easy storage after use. I put them in and they fit with no problems. It was amazing to see myself with a new smile for the first time. It was such a special moment! Immediately I began showing them off to family and friends and they too were thrilled with my results.

The only side affects I have had thus far is minor pain at the bottom of my teeth and a small lisp for the first couple of days I used Instasmile. The lisp is slight and lasts a couple of minutes until my mouth begins to adjust to having my teeth straight. The most common questions people have asked me so far is if I can eat and drink with them and the answer is yes! I have already done both and my teeth look perfect without any staining. It takes a little getting used to at first because like with talking, you are learning how to move your mouth and tongue around the veneers. Once you find your rhythm, you'll be good to go!

My smile hasn't been more beautiful since Instasmile! I truly can't recommend them enough. 6 STEPS TO PEARLY WHITE TEETH

A lot of people desire a set of sparkling white teeth, but when it comes to making the decisions that will help us attain one, we opt for the opposite! Red wine, tea, coffee, all guilty of staining our pearly whites, but we still guzzle them on a daily basis.

That is why we suggest that people research and get familiar with the recommended foods to eat to get pearly white teeth.

We all know the benefits of having white teeth: and just in case you don’t know or might have forgotten, let me remind you. Studies have shown that your smile or teeth are the first thing that someone notices about you and having white teeth not only gives the impression that you are healthy and personally hygienic, they also make you look more successful, more employable, more attractive and even five years younger. This gives you the confidence to smile and proudly display them.

Certain foods are recommended to assist in your pursuit for white teeth, but none will serve as a miracle cure or be more effective than a regimented oral hygiene routine.

Celery and carrots can help in whitening your teeth by washing away food debris while also strengthening your gums.

Cheese. Hard cheese contains calcium that strengthens both your gums and teeth. Cheese also contains a milk protein called casein that can reduce the loss of minerals from your enamel. It has also been noticed that cheese can raise pH – the level of acidity of a substance – of the mouth for some time after eating it, thus, discouraging tooth decay.

Herbs. Herbs such as parsley contain enough chlorophyll that neutralizes bad breath. It is also a source of antioxidants and essential oils that keeps the body healthy. Note however, that excessive consumption of parsley is bad for the health. Another herb that does wonders for the teeth is licorice root.

Oil. The swirling action of oil around your mouth can help to loosen debris in the mouth; consequently, reducing bacteria growth and population in your mouth.

Water. Ensure that you take in enough water every day. Your body needs to be hydrated in order to produce saliva for your mouth. By taking water regularly through the day, you decrease the growth and population of bacteria in your mouth and body.

Green and black tea. They contain polyphenols which suppresses the growth of bacteria. Green tea can promote good gum health as it is anti-inflammatory. Avoid herbal teas as they may contain sugar which is bad for your teeth. You should also consider white tea as it contains some bio-available fluoride.

Since this write-up is about 6 steps you should take to get pearly white teeth, let’s get on with it already.

·        Step 1: Brush and floss your teeth regularly and thoroughly. Although this is an obvious one, many of us however, do not brush or floss our teeth properly. You should ensure that you brush at least twice a day and for at least 2 minutes each. By skipping this step and doing the others you would not be maintaining your teeth.

·        Step 2: See your dentist. Before you apply any special treatment to your teeth, ensure that you visit your dentist and explain what you are planning and why you want to do it. Seeking a dentist’s professional opinion and advice is essential so that you do not end up with damaged teeth.

·        Step 3: Eat foods that whiten the teeth.You should consider buying and eating the following foods as they can naturally whiten your teeth. Such foods include strawberries which contain Malic acid that removes surface teeth discoloration; seeds like sunflower seeds and nuts like walnuts or almonds also remove surface stains by their abrasive texture. Another recommend food to whiten your teeth is onions, they help to prevent plaque from forming on your teeth when your chew them raw; apples are also great and they are recommended for teeth-whitening as their high water content promotes saliva production in our mouths.

·        Step 4: Avoid anything that stains the teeth. Foods rich in sugar should be avoided as they can stain your teeth, making them look discolored. You should also stay away from cigarettes if you wish to have and maintain white teeth. Stay away from sticky, chewy foods and limit the intake of drinks or fruits containing citric acid, as too much of it can lead to enamel erosion

.

·        Step 5: Thoroughly research professional and recommended over the counter whitening treatments. Ensure that you only use products that are FDA approved as safe for dental use.

·        Step 6: Do not eat just before going to bed. Cultivate the habit of eating hours before bedtime. This is because plaque development is usually worse at nights and eating just before going to bed increases this development.

Follow these simple steps and you will be well on your way to that Hollywood smile!

As Halloween approaches, Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC) wants to ensure the safest Halloween night ever by sharing a few tips.

 4 Tips to Enjoy a Safe Halloween:

• Light up! The best way to avoid injuries is to ensure your children are visible to those around you. Only 18% of parents use reflective tape on their children’s Halloween costumes, even though it’s the best way to ensure this.
• The more the merrier! Only 12% of children five years of age or younger are permitted to trick-or-treat alone. The best way to ensure a safe Halloween is to get a group together and spend the evening with them, parents included. Safety in numbers.
• Refresh on general safety steps. Children are twice as likely to be killed by a car while walking on Halloween night than at any other time of the year. Remind your children to look both ways before crossing the street and to stick to walking on sidewalks as they bounce from house to house.
• Brush your teeth! Cavities are scary, too. Avoid sugary and chewy candies – especially those with caramel. Instead, select a few pieces of candy to eat in one sitting, rather than munching all day.  This limits the amount of time that the sugar is around to help make cavities. No matter how many treats they consume, be sure they brush their teeth immediately following to prevent tooth decay and cavities.

 Tip 1: When at a backyard BBQ, bring a cheese tray so you know you’ll have something healthy to nibble on! Cheese is not only healthy for you, but it’s also tasty and the calcium and phosphates help neutralize plaque acid, which ultimately reduces cavities.

Tip 2: While camping, it’s hard to stay away from the s’mores and sweets. Be sure to drink a lot of water and brush and floss when you’re done. My Thoughts

I've been using this toothpaste for several weeks now. My teeth were in decent health prior to using. They could be in better so I looked forward to trying Colgate Enamel Health Mineral Repair out to see how it did. I have a few teeth that are more sensitive then others. I liked the fresh taste of this toothpaste. It was minty with a slight sweetness to it.

When I finished brushing, my teeth felt clean as well as my breath. I've used Colgate in the past for a toothpaste and always been happy with it. It's never been one of those toothpastes that burned my mouth while using it and made me want to get the two minutes of brushing over with ASAP.

As far as results, I am seeing them. My sensitivity seems to be diminishing.  My teeth feel stronger and that might sound weird, but they do. As well, they are a bit whiter. I've been using this twice a day, while before I was brushing once day. I'm very pleased with this toothpaste and will continue to use it.

The Evolve Toothbrush is definitely the next step up in dental hygiene.  The triple-flexing brush  helps keeps your gums healthy and your teeth looking their best.
