Goodnight Lad #Giveaway

This giveaway is hosted by Housewife on a Mission
and sponsored by Goodnight Lad

Having a bedtime routine with your children is important to stick to each night. In our family, we love to have story time before bedtime. My kids love books-- they always have and it makes me thrilled because I have always been an avid reader. We were recently introduced to a children's book called Goodnight Lad, that quickly comes to life with a free app you can download on your smart phone or tablet. My kids have been enjoying this fun book each night with the app, and love to see the pages come to life on my iPhone.

Goodnight Lad is a magical augmented reality children's book that comes to life with a free accompanying app. Each page comes to life with app, of 3D beautiful animations that you can interact with to really get into the book.

What is Goodnight Lad about?
Goodnight Lad is the story of a little boy who refuses to go to bed. He is always playing and having fun, but as the days wear on he gets cranky and his parents decide that something must be done. They come up with a plan to take him around the world in hopes to tire him out.  They visit fun new places like the snore-filled mountains and sunny beaches. At first all is going well, Logan is having a great time and feels like he is King of the town, but before long he turns into a beast...

Housewife on a Mission recently had the opportunity to review Goodnight Lad. You can read her full review here.

Holiday Gift Guide- tabeo™ e2 from Toys“R”Us #TRUHotToyList

***Complimentary product received in exchange for an honest review***

I've saved the best for last when it comes to the “Fabulous 15" list from Toys "R" Us. The tabeo^™ e2 from Toys“R”Us is a tablet designed just for kids and it would make a great gift for boys and girls of all ages this holiday season.

The tabeo does pretty much everything an adult tablet can do, but its was designed with kids in mind. It has a built it camera and video recorder. It also comes with tons of fun apps already downloaded, many of which I know my son had to pay for with other devices. Just some of the app lineup includes Fruit Ninja, My Little Pony, Bejeweled 2, Forever Friends (a Fraggle Rock game) and many more. There's also a calculator , preloaded books, apps to help learn Spanish and more.  I really loved the diversity of the games. There were learning games my three-year-old daughter can enjoy and just as many for my eleven-year-old son.

Getting started on the tabeo will take a little more effort than most devices. You have the choice between going online or making a phone call. Going online will be more convenient, but you'll get charged $1 and have to use your credit card. I opted to phone in my request.  The woman I dealt with was very helpful and walked me through getting it started up and getting the parental controls ready. Then they give you a password that will let you get into the games. This extra step is there only for your children's security.

Once the device was activated, I had to pick parental controls. The tablet has online capabilities, but the great thing is I can pick exactly which websites my kids can access, so I know they can't get onto websites that may not be safe for them. You can even limit the amount of time they play the games. And speaking of making it safe for kids, I love that it comes with the protective cover. With young children involved, you know it's going to get dropped, and this gives the tablet an extra layer of protection. The touch screen works great whether with a stylus or just a finger. Its not oversensitive. My kids love everything about the tabeo. The only issue I have is getting them to put it down.

Toys "R" Us also has a few other nifty electronics on the Fabulous 15 list. Here are a few more you might want to grab for the holidays.

 Only $149.99 LeapPad Ultra^™ from LeapFrog^®

Skylanders SWAP Force^™ from Activision^®

Xbox^™ One from Microsoft^®

To cash in on these great deals and many more, head to your local Toys "R" Us today. Visit their website to find a location near you or shop right online to and have your gift shipped right to your door!  Also be sure to visit their Facebook page, Facebook.com/Toysrus,  follow on @Toysrus. and Pinterest.com/Toysrus to keep up with the latest sales and promotions.

Doc Martin, Series 5 Available Now!

I have always been a fan of medical dramas. Like any job, people's personal lives tend to get in the way of business. Doc Martin is a British drama that combines the mix of professional and personal drama to perfection. You will laugh at some of his quirky patients, but you will also get drawn into the emotional conflicts of the characters lives. This exciting drama will make you laugh, cry, and bite your nails to the stubs long before the season is over. And now, thanks to Acorn Media, Americans can enjoy some of the best of England's medical dramas by purchasing Doc Martin, Series 5. Here is a little more info direct from the Acorn.

Fatherhood hasn’t softened the dour Doc. He’s about to take a position in London when events conspire against him. His infant son needs a name, his replacement doesn’t seem up to the job, and he receives devastating news. Like it or not, he’s stuck in Portwenn. Emmy® winner Eileen Atkins ( Cranford) joins the cast. 8 episodes, 6 hrs, 2 DVDs, SDH.

Disc 1

Episode 1:  Preserve the Romance

Doc Martin’s return to London is delayed by the birth of his son, the arrival of an incompetent replacement at his Portwenn practice, and the sad news of a sudden death. He temporarily moves in with Louisa and their still unnamed baby.

Episode 2:  Dry Your Tears

Martin agrees to stay on until a more suitable substitute is found. He moves back into his house and persuades Louisa to join him so he can help raise their child. Martin’s aunt Ruth arrives in Portwenn for a funeral. She’s almost as cranky as her nephew.

Episode 3:  Born with a Shotgun

A wailing baby and sleepless nights leave Martin and Louisa with frayed nerves. New receptionist Morwenna makes a bad first impression on the doctor. Aunt Ruth deals with an intruder and a reclusive neighbor with a mysterious illness.

Episode 4:  Mother Knows Best

The first annual Portwenn charity fun run leads to a rivalry between Bert Large’s restaurant and a local pub. Louisa’s mother, Eleanor, shows up unannounced, and while Louisa isn’t happy to see her, the baby starts sleeping more soundly under Eleanor’s care.

Disc 2

Episode 5:  Remember Me

PC Penhale has an unexpected visitor: his ex-wife Maggie, who exhibits strange symptoms. Louisa learns her mother’s real reason for returning to Portwenn, and she and Martin finally choose a name for their baby.

Episode 6:  Don’t Let Go

PC Penhale takes desperate measures to convince Maggie to stay in Portwenn. When Aunt Ruth discovers old family photos, Martin is reminded of his unhappy childhood. Martin and Louisa can’t seem to agree on anything, and tensions reach a breaking point.

Episode 7:  Cats and Sharks

Threatened by loan sharks, Bert Large can’t afford to host a charity event for a cat sanctuary. PC Penhale intervenes, and Eleanor comes up with a way to bring more customers to Bert’s restaurant. Meanwhile, Martin makes plans to leave Portwenn in a week.

Episode 8:  Ever After

Unaware of her feelings for him, Martin asks Mrs. Tishell, the pharmacist, to babysit James Henry for the day. Fueled by a cocktail of self-prescribed drugs, she takes the baby and disappears. Martin, Louisa, Aunt Ruth, and PC Penhale pursue them to a castle high on a cliff.
If you want to get the advantage hour of drama that will leave you on the edge of your seat, than this is the box set for you. You can order Doc Martin, Series 5 , for only $39.99 at Acorn Media. As an added bonus, check out the Doc Martin Bobble Head available for only $9.99!

Chatman Review & Giveaway

From the Company

Chatman is an awesome new device geared toward kids (ages 6-12). This bright yellow, interactive emoticon-like character is a child’s talking, feeling, moving computer friend for everything they do online. Chatman (www.mychatman.com) provides fun, social skills, homework help, and safety. In essence, Chatman offers a unique, fun, interactive experience, while keeping kids safe online.

He also serves as a protector of sorts, alerting you when and if chatting or surfing becomes inappropriate. When kids plug him into their computers via USB port, he comes alive, and his funny, cool personality adds a whole new dimension of fun, interactivity and emotion to the online experience. Chatman proactively chats with kids, helps with homework, sends reminders about events, features games and apps, and participates in chats online while keeping them safe.

Our Thoughts

Our household has a love hate relationship with Chatman. My kids absolutely love Chatman. Its interactive and fun for them to ask questions online and hear his little robotic voice give he answers. Its simple to activate and easy for grade school children to use. It is encouring them to search for answers to interesting questions in their online time instead of just playing video games.  But there is a down side to Chatman, and this mom hates him.  I originally plugged  Chatman into my computer. Most of readers probably realize that my computer is my office. I work on my blogs and I write my  books on it. I spent at least eight hours day using my computer. Chatman drove me insane. When the kids weren't using it, I unplugged the toy. I swear, every five minutes, a box kept popping up that said "We miss Chatman." Somtimes, I couldn't even get this box to close without rebooting the whole computer. Eventually, I had to uninstall it.  Since then, I got a new computer, and let my kids have my old one in their rooms. Now Chatman stays installed on their computer all the time. So, my thoughts on Chatman are, its great if your kids have their own computer. But if you're sharing, and especiallly if you use your computer for work, you don't this software downloaded into your sytem.

Giveaway

One lucky winner is going to receive a Chatman of their own . To enter, just fill in the Rafflecopter form below. This giveaway will end on 5/12/12. The winner will be notified via email and will have 48 hours to reply. Thanks again to Chatman for offering this fantastic prize.

Funky Barn for Nintendo 3DS Review & Giveaway

Run your own 3D funky and frenzied farm!  Are you ready to make some wool?  Pop your sheep into The Shearing Machine and he will hilariouslycannonball out, surprised but shorn.  Ready to harvest your crops?  Hook up the Flying Fruit Box-Haybale-Coptor that flies around crazily picking up boxes of fruit and grain.  With tons of wacky contraptions and goofy animals, Funky Barn 3D is not your average farm game.

Players can raise and manage lots of quirky animals each with their own challenges and eccentric personalities.  You have the ability to farm hands-on via the touch screen by shaking trees to make fruit fall, build gardens, throw unsuspecting cows into a milking machine, or even shake a cow while it's eating a strawberry to create strawberry milk.  Players can strategically build infrastructures and manage their budgets by building water pumps, laying down roads, purchasing farm dogs to keep pests away, and keep pollution at bay by planting trees.  You can connect and trade rare items and animals with your friends by staying connected through the "Enhanced Tag Mode."  Create your own farm from the ground up, choose to work on a farm in a challenging geographic location, or revive an already out-of-control farm.

Our Thoughts

Funky Barn is a fun an interactive game that kids will love. You get to watch your farm animals change and grow, and then use them to test out all kinds of different contraptions. Its kind of like Farmville gone wild. You will have to watch out for aliens, bugs, and natural disasters while you try to keep your farm going. My kids loved the 3D graphics and the fact that they can just touch the screen to accomplish their goals.  This is definitely one of our favorite 3DS games so far! Because really, who doesn't enjoy a little casual cow tossing?

Funky Barn 3D is designed for kids ages seven and older and would be a great way to keep kids entertained during spring break. My kids found the different levels they have completed so far  to be challenging, but not too difficult for grade school age children.  They had no trouble mastering the controls and really enjoyed the 3D effects.  If you would like to get a copy of Funky Barn 3D for yourself, they are available in stores nationwide for $39.99. You can also purchase it online on Amazon for $28.99.

Giveaway

One lucky winner is going to receive a copy of Funky Barn 3D for their own family to enjoy. To enter, just fill in the Rafflecopter form below. This giveaway will end on 4/30/12. The winner will be notified via email and will have 48 hours to reply. Thanks again to Ubisoft for offering this fantastic prize.

Country’s greatest music superstars are invading your living room! GameMill Entertainment, an independent publisher of entertaining mass-market video games, today announced the launch of Country Dance All Stars, the entertaining dance game that’s packed with over 30 songs from country music’s biggest artists. Get ready to shake your thang as Country Dance All Stars makes its debut on Kinect™ for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft available now in retail stores nationwide.

Download the official Country Dance All Stars launch trailer for a sneak peak at the interactive fun that’s sure to have you
Featuring over 30 hits from award winning country mega stars, Country Dance All Stars artists include host of ABC’s “The Voice” Blake Shelton and his Grammy award-winning wife Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Brooks & Dunn, Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Jake Owen, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Sugarland and many more!

Country Dance All Stars, the next iteration in the top-selling Country Dance™ video game franchise, was designed from the ground up for Kinect for Xbox 360 to bring a whole new hands-free experience to the dance party. Your body becomes the controller as you kick up your boots and dance your way through over 30 hot routines and songs. Challenge a friend to a dance off with simultaneous competitive play or work together to pull off the moves and collectively build a top score. Boost your boot-scootin’ skills with all new line-dancing routines, and don’t be afraid to belt it out with scrolling sing-a-long lyrics. Share the fun with friends as the Kinect sensor snaps photos throughout each routine. Plus, all new downloadable content support allows you to keep the party going with downloadable song packs featuring new choreography that will be released post launch.

Country Dance All Stars on Kinect for Xbox 360 is rated “E10+” by the ESRB. For more information about Country Dance All Stars or the Country Dance game franchise, please visit: www.game-mill.com.

Our Thoughts: I am very particular about the video games I let my kids play. I have zero tolerance for blood and violence. I also like games that keep kids moving. The Xbox 360 is my favorite game system because they encourage interactive play. Its more than just sitting on your butt pushing buttons. You have to actually get up and be a part of the game. Country Dance All Stars for Kinect is a new game from GameMill Entertainment that is just the type of game I am always on the look out for. It really get kids moving with more than thirty Chart topping hits from country artists we all know and love. Check out the trailer below to learn more.

Country Dance All Stars is rated E 10+ so its safe for any of the kids to watch. But because of the difficulty level it is recommended for kids ages ten and older. My daughter is almost eleven, and she had a great time dancing along to all her favorite songs. I also had a great time joining in, although she is a much better dancer and totally kicked my butt.  The game offers full tracks, no annoying partials and has several levels of difficulty from beginner to expert. You can play with up to four players so its a great choice for family game night.  The song list includes the following hits:

• Alan Jackson – “Good Time”
• Ashton Shepherd – “Look It Up”
• Billy Currington – “People Are Crazy”
• Blake Shelton – “All About Tonight”
• Brad Paisley – “Water”
• Brooks & Dunn – “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”
• Carrie Underwood – “Cowboy Casanova”
• Chad Brownlee – “Carried Away”
• Chris Heers – “Dirt Rich”

Our Thoughts: Xia-Xia Hermit Crabs and their interchangeable shells have been one of the hottest toys on the market this year.  They are fun, collectible, and they are the perfect way for kids to express their personal style. They are one of the only toys that my tween will still play with and that my youngest daughter enjoys as well.  And thanks to Gamemill, they are now more than just a fun  toy. They are also an interactive video game that is available for the Nintendo DS. If your tween loves Xia-Xia , then they are sure to love the video game.

In the Xia-Xia video game for DS, you can choose which character is your favorite. There are 25 levels to complete and you have to seek out all the missing friends to win the game. Some of the levels were easy enough for my three year old, but even my eleven yer old enjoyed the game and found it challenging. The worlds are unique and colorful, and there are special collectibles to find to help you unlock even more treasures. And best of all, all your favorite Xia-Xia characters are right there with you!

Get Yours: If you have a child who would love to get this game for Easter, it is available in stores nationwide including WalMart and Game Stop for only $19.99. You can also order Xia-Xia for DS  on Amazon for the same low price.

Easter Gift Idea - Silverlicious for Nintendo DS

GameMill Entertainment, an independent publisher of entertaining mass-market video games, today announced the release of Silverlicious™, the entertaining exploration video game based on the Silverlicious™ story from the best-selling Pinkalicious™ children’s book series. Silverlicious the game is available now in retail stores nationwide for the Nintendo DS™ hand-held system for $19.99.

Following the enchanting storyline of Silverlicious™ written and illustrated by Victoria Kann, Silverlicious the game lets players set out on an adventure as Pinkalicious who has lost her ability to taste anything sweet. Help Pinkalicious regain her sweet tooth as you practice kindness, good manners and helping others in need. Collect costumes and accessories you can use to dress up Pinkalicious and unlock magical rewards including butterflies, sparkle rides and fireworks as you explore the beautiful lands and meet new friends. Boost your “sweet meter” with every good deed and polite remark and you’ll quickly discover that true sweetness comes from much more than cupcakes and cookies.

Silverlicious the game also features a variety of holiday-themed neighborhoods to explore. Visit the land of Easter Excitement just in time for the Easter holiday where you can twirl, glide and dance along with Edgar the Easter Bunny and his many Easter chicks! Whether playing alone or with others, Silverlicious the game creates an imaginative and fun way to drive home the importance of kindness and good manners.

Our Thoughts: Based on an adorable series of children's books Silverlicious is the perfect game for little girl's just starting out on the Nintendo DS. My youngest daughter has been watching her older brother and sister play for as long as she can remember, but most of the games were too complicated for her. Silverlicious is the first game my three year old was able to master (with just a little assistance). She loved dressing her avatar in pretty costumes and accessories, and journeying around the colorful lands to find lost treasures and help Silvericious regain her Sweet Tooth. For me, I love to see that this game teaches valuable lessons, like manners and kindness, instead of  the violence you find in many other video games. This game would definitely make a great Easter gift for any little girl in your life.

If you have a child who would love to get this game, it is available in stores nationwide including WalMart and Game Stop for only $19.99. You can also order Silverlicious  on Amazon for only $19.55.
