Discovering Your Warrior Spirit with D.J. Vanas DVD

Host D.J. Eagle Bear Vanas (Ottawa) teaches us to tap into the power of our warrior spirit and outlines how service is the most fulfilling human endeavor we undertake on our warrior journey. By applying Native American traditions and philosophy to the challenges of everyday life, Vanas inspires us to find and empower the warrior in each of us.

In Native cultures, warriors developed skills necessary to be an asset to their tribe. Today, the warrior spirit means using our creator-given talent and ability to be an asset to the "tribe" we serve. That tribe may be family, community, coworkers, or friends.

Discovering Your Warrior Spirit with D.J. Vanas provides a clear and compelling guide to creating a more rewarding and satisfying life, leading viewers to recognize and use their assets, leverage their own strengths, and have a positive impact on others.

My Thoughts

D.J.  is a Native American spiritual leader teaching people around the world to embrace their inner warrior. This DVD helps guide us to be stronger individuals who can channel our warrior spirits to bring positivity into our lives. It was an inspirational journey that will teaches philosophies that will lead to a more fulfilling life.

This was an amazing documentary that teaches us about Native American traditions and gets us to look deeper into our own spirituality. If you would like to purchase a copy of this DVD for your collection, you can find it online on PBS.org or on Amazon.

Boston, MA (June 3, 2016) – Positive lifestyle brand Life is Good® announced today the launch of its Heroes of Optimism campaign to celebrate optimists who have inspired others and made a difference in their world. Every story shared will help raise funds to support childcare professionals working with the highest needs children nationwide. Stories will be collected and shared at lifeisgood.com and across social channels to #GROWtheGood.

Fans can share their Hero of Optimism story at www.lifeisgood.com/heroes, on Instagram using #GROWtheGood or via email at goodstories@lifeisgood.com. The $1 donation program to support childcare professionals runs through August 3rd, 2016 or when $25,000 in donations is committed.

Life is Good was co-founded over 20 years ago by brothers Bert and John Jacobs, who were inspired by their mom, the first powerful optimist in their lives.  While the brothers struggled during the early years selling t-shirts from their van, they were motivated by the inspiring letters they received from people fighting to overcome life’s biggest challenges with the power of optimism.

“For over two decades, we have been receiving passionate letters from people touched by the brand during their most challenging times,” said Life is Good co-founder Bert Jacobs. “We recently started sharing these stories with our community and were moved by the impact they had on people’s lives. That’s why today we are launching a platform where anyone can share stories of optimism and inspire others to focus on the good.”

As part of Life is Good’s expedition to uncover the great stories of optimism everywhere, they will be visiting iconic American destinations.  Along the way the team will connect with partners including Lady Gaga’s Born this Way Foundation, which recently launched the most recent version of its Born Brave Survey, CorePower Yoga Boston, Watermark Conferences for Women, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, ALEX AND ANI, MyGym and several others. My Thoughts:

I have always admired the Life is Good company for their stunning, quality products that always share inspiration. My mom has been a fan for years. When they reached out to tell us about a campaign such as this one, I remembered why I have adored them for so long. Life is Good is constantly trying to make life good for others too by giving back. Hearing about this opportunity to honor an inspirational person, made me think about all of the wonderful people who have been role models to me through the years.

The first person that comes to mind is my Pop-pop, a volunteer firefighter for 51 years who passed in the line of duty. Not only was he giving of his time, he was a humble family man who gave back to everyone he knew. He was constantly fixing and creating things for others, and never asked for anything in the return. The joy of knowing he helped someone was enough for him. My fondest memories of my childhood are those with him. The days we'd spend together bonding over his stories of being in the army, his teenage shenanigans of playing pranks on friends, the times I would help him clean his workshop while he built things for family and friends, and how he loved sharing his favorite pancakes with me. I would always try to spoil my Pop-pop too by giving him the first Christmas cookie I would bake with my Mom-mom. I would even pour him cups of tea from my tea party kits. It's memories like that you hold dear as you grow.

The unconditional love he showed me throughout my life, as well as the examples of his compassionate heart, is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Now in my own journey, I hold myself to his examples. I always put family first, try and give back as much as possible, and believe in my potential and dreams. He is my hero.

Life is Good was kind enough to send me a gorgeous shirt which you will see above. I am so thankful to them! It is oh so soft and bright pink. The fabric is quite thick and durable. That's something I have always loved about Life is Good products. They are not flimsy or thin. I gave the shirt to my mom as a surprise and she was thrilled. The Life is Good shirt I got her about six years ago is still her favorite. Now she has another to add!

Thank you, Life is Good for giving everyone an opportunity to reflect on their heroes and for donating to others as well!

Holiday Gift Guide - Spiritual Movies from Lionsgate

The First-Ever Word-For-Word Adaptation Of The Biblical Gospel Of John, Telling The Story Of Jesus is now available On DVD, Digital HD And On Demand from Lionsgate Home Entertainment.  A truly unique production as the first-ever word-for-word unedited adaptation of The Gospel of John as recorded in the New Testament arrives on DVD (plus Digital), Digital HD and On Demand October 6th from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. This stunning film brings a fresh perspective on one of the most sacred text’s in history, from the “ethnically sensitive casting to the beautiful scenery and the emotional performances” (Patheos.com).  The film was also recently approved (with caution due to the authenticity of the crucifixion scene) by The Dove Foundation in the faith based films category. The Gospel of John New International Version is narrated by leading British actor David Harewood (Showtime’s “Homeland,” Blood Diamond, The Merchant of Venice) and the King James Version is narrated by Brian Cox (Troy, The Bourne Identity). Shot on location in Morocco, The Gospel of John is the first-ever filmed version of the biblical text unedited. Using the Gospel narrative as its script — word for word — this profound and stunning film sheds new light on one of history’s most sacred texts. Beautifully shot, wonderfully performed, and informed by the latest theological, historical and archeological research, this film is something to be enjoyed and treasured. The Gospel of John DVD includes three different biblical text translations - the New International Version, the King James Version, and the 1960 Spanish Reina-Valera translation – and five behind the scenes featurettes looking at the making of the film. The Gospel of John will be available on DVD for the suggested retail price of $14.98.

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES*
•          “Deconstructing a Scene” featurette
•         “Building Jerusalem” featurette
•         “Composing the Gospels” featurette
•         “Filming the Gospels” featurette
•         “Narrating the Gospels” featurette

My Thoughts

This is a truly excellent adaption of the Kings James version of the Gospel of  John that stays very true to the stories in the bible. The actors even speak Aramaic, with an English narrator to help with the translation which really adds to the realism.  Jesus is very real, radical, and portrayed in a way that makes you understand why so many people chose to follow him and spread his word.  Even if you aren't Christian, you can't help but appreciate the attention to detail and the realistic costumes and settings.  This is a great historical film as well as a religious adaption.

Experience the power of faith, courage and friendship in the moving drama Where Hope Grows, now on Digital HD, Blu-ray (plus Digital HD), DVD (plus Digital) and On Demand from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Receiving 5 out of 5 Doves from The Dove Foundation, Where Hope Grows is an uplifting tale of an ex-baseball player who finds salvation when he befriends a grocery-store clerk who has Down syndrome. Theatrically released in 2015, and written and directed by Chris Dowling (Rock Slyde), the heartwarming film features touching performances from a stellar cast including Kristoffer Polaha (TV’s “Ringer,” TV’s “Life Unexpected”), Billy Zabka (The Karate Kid), Brooke Burns (Shallow Hal, TV’s “Baywatch”), Kerr Smith (TV’s “The Fosters,” TV’s “Dawson’s Creek”), Michael Grant (TV’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”), Alan Powell (The Song) with Danica McKellar (TV’s “The Wonder Years”) and introducing David DeSanctis as “Produce.”

Calvin Campbell (Polaha), a former pro baseball player with a self-destructive streak, has his faith in God restored when he meets Produce (DeSanctis), an inspirational man with Down syndrome. As their friendship develops, Calvin is reminded that hope grows in the most unlikely places.

The Where Hope Grows home entertainment bonus material includes deleted scenes, plus two featurettes that look at the casting of “Produce” and a discussion of the “R-word,” along with an audio commentary from writer/director Chris Dowling and actor David DeSanctis.  The Blu-ray and DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $24.99 and $19.98, respectively.

BLU-RAY/DVD/DIGITAL HD SPECIAL FEATURES*
·         Deleted Scenes
·         “Casting David DeSanctis” featurette
·         “Stop the R-Word” featurette
·         Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Chris Dowling and Actor David DeSanctis

My Thoughts

Calvin Campbell is a professional baseball player who turned to alcohol to drown his sorrows. He neglects his teenage daughter who's dating an older man.  His life is going downhill fast until the day that he stops at a grocery store for his booze and meets a young man with Down Syndrome.  Ironically,  the boy's name is Produce and he works in the produce department. He wants nothing more than to be employee of the month, but he's always overlooked. This doesn't stop him from befriending his customers, including Calvin.  The two become fast friends, and Produce teaches Calvin the importance of family and never losing hope. This is a fantastic movie with a great message.  Highly recommended.

Book Review : Rejuvenate by Jeffrey Stephen Maki

Use this book to refresh, reboot, regroup, and recharge your being, your spirit, your outlook, your confidence, your energy and your life. That process begins with a simple but profound truth. You are a one-of-a-kind miracle and you are here for a reason. You matter.
But it can be a tough challenging world at times, and we can easily forget that we are here to follow our inspiration and to become more than we are today. So every once in a while our spirit, mind and body need to be rejuvenated.
We need to be reminded of our limitless potential. No matter what your age, circumstances, or past — your future starts now. It always starts now, and even one tiny step in an empowered new direction can make an important and positive impact on your future and the futures of those lives you touch. Grasp that reality and in the process of becoming rejuvenated, you will also become a source of healing and inspiration for others while you ascend to higher levels of consciousness, joy, success, and happiness.

Our Thoughts

This book was such an easy read, and I mean that in a good way. There wasn't a single page in this book that did not inspire me somehow. I could pick this up at any point, read a few pages and immediately be saturated with positive vibes that the author puts off in his writing.

He has a very no-nonsense approach with how he explains "life" and really makes you look at things from a different perspective. The book is peppered with uplifting quotes as well, which I love, as does most people on social media.

The information in this book really sticks with you too. The part that stood out the most to me was about patience and the stop-light, road rage guy. It puts into perspective how we can so easily become frustrated and angry, simply by not taking the time to understand the bigger picture.

Everyone needs more positivity in their life, and this book is a great guide of showing you how to attain that for yourself. It is explained so simply that you don't feel overwhelmed with think you have to make all of these huge changes to attain happiness.

Buy yours On Amazon and don't forget to check it out on Facebook! He posts excerpts from the book that are uplifting too!
