My Thoughts

Transformers has been around since I was a kid. Even though it was mostly for boys, I always loved the shows, movies, and action figures. When I had kids we enjoyed watching them again together. This new series is a great addition to the Transformers legacy. Lots of old favorites make a reappearance, like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee but the storylines are fresh and new.  This season even gives a little shout to the 90s. This DVD set includes ten exiting episodes plus deleted scenes and bonuses.

My Thoughts

Paw Patrol is an great educational show that is perfect for preschool kids. It features a group of adorable dogs who are always ready to save the day. This DVD set includes eleven different episodes. In this DVD, the pups bring all heir friends together to help stop an inventor from destroying Adventure Bay, and that's one just on the exciting stories in this DVD.  The episodes include:

My Thoughts

The junior monsters are heading to high school is this brand new Monster High adventure. In this DVD Clawdeen is transferring from a human school because she wants to embrace her wolf half, but most of the other monsters in school are full monsters. To make matters worse, someone is trying to destroy the school. Along with her friends Frankie and Draculaura, she'll learn to accept herself and find a way to save the school.

My daughters range in age from four to thirteen but they all enjoyed this new DVD edition of Monster High. The cartoons were always fun, but its even more exciting seeing the monsters come to life in live action. We especially loved the musical numbers in this live action version. There are lots of adventures and funny one liners, making this the show perfect for family movie night. My Thoughts

Are You Afraid of the Dark centers around a group of teens dealing with some crazy things in their neighborhood. They form a group call the Midnight Society where they share spooky stories, but soon the stories take on a life of their own. In this season, they travel to Ghost Island they stumble into new and terrifying stories. This season has four episodes:

• The Tale of the Looking Glass
• The Tale of the Other Side

In addition to the  new show, there are also a few bonus episodes of the 90s version. As a child of the 90s, I was really excited to see this reboot. I loved being able to share a modernized version of a classic with my kids. It was a great mini-series to enjoy together on a rainy summer night. My Thoughts

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret! is a touching movie inspired by the best-selling novel. In this film, a little girl named Margaret moves from New York to New Jersey and has to make new friends at a difficult time in her development. Being the new kid is never easy, but its especially difficult for a pre-teen going through the throes of puberty. The story touches on teasing and Margaret getting her first period.  While  she struggles to make friends, she also bonds with her mother and grandmother and learns the importance of family.

This is definitely a great movie to watch with your daughters. It will open the door to conversations with your kids. For my family, it was even more relatable because we moved from Philadelphia to a small town in New Jersey when I was a kid. There were tons of touching moments and lots of humor as well. The Turtles return to New York with one goal in mind--to destroy Shredder once and for all. With April providing remote computer assistance from the lair, the Turtles face off against new enemies and old.  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles  has been around since I was a kid and now my own children are enjoying t his new incarnation. This DVD set includes all 124 episodes on the series in one convenient set, giving you hours of back-to-back action. I've watched this series with my  son before, but its was great getting to binge watch all the seasons back to back. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is a new series that is a spin off the of the original Pretty Little Liars. This series centers around the children of the original characters. Their parents ran away to hide from the terrible things they did in their youth, but someone wants them to pay and they're going after their children as part of their revenge.  The first season includes ten episodes.

 My Thoughts

The Fabelmans tells the story of an aspiring director named Sammy. It starts with him growing up in a strict Jewish household with his three sisters. He dreams of making movies and starts with home movies when video cameras were a fairly new invention. The film follows Sam through the fifties and sixties and he learns more about filmmaking. In addition to a look at the early years, it also delves into family relationship and secrets. Its a movie lush with emotion and a step back in time.

This was a fantastic movie that was inspired some Steven Spielberg's real life. It touches on the challenges of being an artist. In addition to the feature, there is also some great bonus footage including an interview with Steven Spielberg and a look at the costume and set designs.  My Thoughts 

Smurfs: Season 1, Volume 3  brings back classic characters like Brainy, Papa Smurf Smurfette and Gargamel to Smurf village. In this show,  Gargamel uses a crystal ball to try to capture them and find their village so he can cook them up for dinner. Vanity also finds himself getting into some trouble, and when Gargamel catches the Smurfs they outwit by helping him impress his mom. This season includes nine fun episodes.

The Smurfs television show was the staple of my Saturday morning when I was a kid, so I was super excited when they started putting out new shows. I like how they used the classic version of many characters but introduce some new faces too. Overall, this was a unique addition to a classic. After touring the world, Bodi takes some time off and returns to his village. When he learns that the girl group, K-9, doesn't know who rock legend Angus Scattergood is, he is compelled to join the musical competition show, “Battle the Beat,” to inspire a new generation of rock stars. But after joining the show, Bodi quickly realizes he has bitten off more than he can chew when he becomes an overnight TV personality sensation.

 My Thoughts

Rock Dog 3: Battle the Beat is the third chapter of an adorable series about a little dog named Bodi whose living his best life as a rock star. Things have really taken off in his career since the first movie, but now he's starting to get homesick and decides to visit his hometown. Once he gets there he meets a girl band. They don't know about his rock star alter ego, but in order to impress them he decides to join the battle of the bands. The DVD also includes some great behind he scenes footage and music videos.

My kids loved this movie. The characters are colorful and fun, and the story-line was entertaining. There are lots of laughs and toe-tapping songs that you can't get out of your head. The story also reminds us that any one can make their dreams come true if they take the time to work on them. This is a wonderful family film and one I'm sure we'll return to again and again.

My Thoughts

The Staircase is the story of Michael Peterson and the alleged murder of his wife. When Kathleen first took a tumble down the stairs, everyone who knew the couple assumed it was a tragic accident. At first, when he DA brings murder charges against him, its a shock, but soon more and more evidence emerges that leads family and friends to doubt his attentions. While he swears his innocence, his family is torn apart with some believing him and other doubting his sincerity. This exciting crime series includes eight episodes:
