DVD Review : SUSPECTS, Series 1 & 2

SUSPECTS, Series 1 & 2 (DVD Debut) - “Absorbing and smart TV” (The Telegraph) - Suspects offers a fresh and original British procedural crime drama set in London that tackles difficult subjects with gritty authenticity. Filmed in the style of a fly-on-the-wall documentary, the series relies on the cast to develop their own dialogue, creating a uniquely realistic tone. Fay Ripley (Cold Feet, New Tricks, Reggie Perrin), Damien Molony (Being Human, Ripper Street) andClare-Hope Ashitey (Children of Men, Top Boy) star as East London CID officers. My Thoughts

Suspects is an exciting crime drama set in modern day London. The series primarily centers around three detectives--Jack Weston, Martha Bellamy, and Charlie Steele. Each character has their own personality which sometimes leads to conflict, but for the most part, they are a team to be reckoned with.  There are nine episodes in this two series set including:
Series 1, Episode 1 - A two year old is kidnapped and his parents and siblings are the main suspects.

Series 1, Episode 2 - There is chaos at a local night club when the owner is assaulted, his sister is in a coma, and a body is found in the alley.

Series 1, Episode 3 - The wife of the superintendent is raped.

 Series 1, Episode 4 - A terminally ill businessman turns up dead after an argument. Was it a mercy killing or cold blooded murder?

Series 1, Episode 5 - A woman is stabbed in the park. She makes it to the hospital in a taxi but dies shortly after.  But why didn't the cab driver all the cops?

Series 2, Episode 1 - A barrister is attacked with a hammer. Was it a random sex-crime or the mentally ill neighbor?

Series 2, Episode 2 - There is another attack with a hammer and the team fears a serial offender is on the loose. Is it the schizophrenic neighbor they let out on bail?

 Series 2, Episode 3 - When the prime suspect in a pedophile ring gets released, Jack wants to take  matters into his own hands.

Series 2, Episode 4  - Jack is found at the scene of a murder--of the pedophile everyone knew was on his hit list. Did he really do it?
