Hot Topic Mystery Bag

Today I opened a Hot Topic mystery bag, and my kids were super excited for this one. It had four items, and the entire theme was cats which automatically made it a win in this house.

Inside we found:

• A squishy cat

• Exploding Kittens cards

• A mini cat cup

• A stuffed noodle cat

You can usually find these mystery bags in the clearance section at Hot Topic. Just another day in the land of mystery mail and mystery bags, and this one was pure feline fun.

Unclaimed Mail - Snow Suits and Strawberry Cow

 

Today’s return‑mail haul was unexpectedly fun, and very on‑brand for the kind of randomness we’ve come to expect.

Ethan kicked things off with a mini hair straightener, followed by a kid’s pink snowsuit.

Spencer opened a cover‑up and then pulled out the star of the day: a strawberry cow plush. She was rehomed with my friend Donna’s granddaughter, who also ended up with the pink snowsuit. The cow found its forever home.

Finally, I opened a Christmas wreath and a box of nail‑art pens. Another day, another round of surprises. Unclaimed mail never disappoints…even when it does.

My Thoughts

Furby has been around for over a decade and the newest addition to the family is more interactive than ever. This little guy has several personalities that come out as you perform different actions. Choose from dance party, light show, copycat, tell me your fortune, let's chill, and more.  Furby has his own language but it's easy to pick up and the toy comes with a book of translations to help you get started. The more you play with him, the more English he learns.

For even more Furby fun, you can scan the QR code for more fun. This allows you to interact even more with the toy. Kids can feed him virtual food or give him a bath. In time, Furby will remember the name you've given him and other pets he meets.

When you're all done playing, just pull the tail and hold it for a few seconds and your Furby will go to sleep, eliminating the possibility of being woken up by him in the middle of the night. I have four children ranging in age from 2-13 and they are all having fun with the Furby. Granted, it's a little too complicated for the younger ones to play with independently, but with the bigger ones helping it becomes a fun toy for the whole family.

My Thoughts 

 Okay so I can honestly say that I was not the initial person who tested this item. When it first came in the mail, my four year old came to me asking, "What is that?" I told him what it was, and explained what it did. I went back to doing the dishes and when I looked back, he and the plush storage bag were gone. He went up into his room, gathered a bunch of his toys, and filled the bag. I was impressed. I will say the only thing he did not quite get the memo on, was putting soft items in the bag. So when I went to lay on it, i hurt my head lol. This storage bag is super soft and plush, and made a wonderful addition to underneath his bunk bed in the fort area. 

This company has a lot of wonderful storage options. They come in multiple colors, and very different types as well. This is definitely made by moms for moms. The amount of toys can be overwhelming, and finding cute storage options is always a wonderful thing. If you are feeling the need for some declutter in your life, this is definitely a company you should check out. It definitely is more fun then your typical toy chest.

 My Thoughts

OMG doll, Big Wig - My daughter loved the way you take the doll out of the package by pulling the ribbon and spinning her box around. It was like she made her grand entrance. The dolls are beautiful, withvibrant colors, great outfits and pretty pink hair.

 

RC Car - This is a great toy. Something fun for girls to play with their LOL dolls in. It is a bit difficult to steer it in a straight line. But, it is cool that turning the "steering wheel"/ remote control makes the actual car turn.

LOL Gift Box - 🎁  - Beautiful packaging, looked like a present. The box makes a great place to store the doll and accessories when they're not being played with. My daughter loved that the accessories came in the little balls packed with "sand" and "confetti". Thankfully, the confetti is bigger than most as it does make a bit of a mess when it's spilled.

About Zoonicorn:

Zoonicorn began with an idea to create a unique, plush toy for children that would be a combination of an exotic animal (zebra) and mythical creature (unicorn). We also wanted to create a children’s book to go with the character which would be educational for kids and entertaining for adults.

We discussed our initial idea with many people and received a lot of positive feedback. After several revisions, we achieved the exact look and feel of our vision for Zoonicorn. That’s when our four characters were born.

People immediately fell in love with the concept.

Our Thoughts:

These sweet little stuffed animals are the perfect blend between a loved zebra and a unicorn! There are several colors to choose from, and each one has their own name. My three year old squealed with excitement when I gave her her very own to love. 

Each one has a very special lesson. For example we received Aliel for review, and she is fun to be around. Although she likes to talk a lot, loves to get dirty, and loses things, she is energetic and loves an adventure. 

The book is a nice size, and not so lengthy a small child loses interest. Brightly colored pages, keep even the interest of an adult (I enjoyed reading this to my daughter). The story we received was geared toward a very active bison who even dreamed about jumping and running. When she slept the zoonicorns came to play with her. 

This has become a new favorite, and a story I'm sure we'll utilize several times when getting ready for bed time. This is a great gift idea, and one I'm sure will be a huge hit!

My Thoughts

The chalkboard lava lamp has been a fun addition for my kids. They've enjoyed being able to draw on the base, erase and draw again. They like to write messages on it and sometimes a reminder. The chalk erases right off without issue and doesn't leave a residue. 

The Lava Lamp works as intended. The first couple uses we didn't get the full effect. The stuff in the insides that does the movement was stuck to the top of the lava lamp and we were finally able to work it down. It now works perfectly and the kids enjoy turning it on each day and watching as the liquid swishes around.

Do note that it comes apart easy. So with little kids, you'll want to keep it out of reach. The center part that hold the liquid is glasses. It is sealed with a bottle cap, so the liquid won't come out, but fingers could still be cut on it.

We look forward to using the Lava Lamp more and decorating it for each upcoming Holiday.
