My Thoughts:

I've been fascinated by astrology ever since I was a little girl. When I read the description of this book, I knew I had to get it! Although I've studied the basics of astrology, I've always been interested in studying it deeper in regards to natal chart as well as other placements. Most people don't even realize we are made up of a ton of unique signs that represent the entire solar system!

What I loved about this book besides the gorgeous artwork is that it was easy to read and understand. I find myself confused sometimes when I read astrology content online. I am still quite a newbie to studying natal charts and unique astrological alignments. The author did an excellent job at making sure this book was beneficial for all levels of understanding. The descriptions were detailed but not overwhelming. It gave a fantastic overview and allowed the reader to feel they were getting a good look into their cosmic blueprint! My favorite part was probably the overview of the house placements for each planet. That has always been a topic I wanted to learn more about. There were also suggested resources at the end of the book for the reader to continue their learning journey.

If you're someone interested in astrology this is a wonderful book to add to your library! I highly recommend it!

Book Review: A Mindful Morning by David Dillard-Wright, PhD

With all the struggles of modern life, it's easy to get lost in a quagmire of stress, worry, and indifference. For thousands of years, monks rose before dawn to meditate and greet the morning with an open heart. But you don't need to beat the sun to start the day mindfully. With A Mindful Morning, you can channel this ancient tradition as part of your daily morning routine.

With 200 inspiring quotes and short, easy mindfulness exercises, you'll learn how to begin your day with a clear head and positive energy. These simple moments of awareness, healing postures, and meditations can help soothe your soul as you take on every day with tranquility, confidence, and composure.

My Thoughts

I've been working a lot this year on raising my vibration, and creating a more positive mindset, so this book seemed like a perfect thing to read. The author takes readers through a variety of exercises designed to help people achieve mindfulness and a more positive outlook.

The book begins by talking a bit about what mindfulness is, and how it can benefit us. After that, there are a variety of one-page exercises that discuss various topics. These include quotes and thoughts on embracing change, dealing with anger, igniting your curiousity, and more.

One of the things that struck me the most was when the author went into valuing people over ideaolgies, and not allowing political differences to overtake your relationships. This is such a valuable lesson, especially during an election year. I also loved the parts about respecting your power, and how maybe can't control the situations you may be involved in or what you see, but you can control the way you react to things.

The writing flows nicely, and the messages inside left me feeling good as I read them. If you're looking for something to help you explore mindfulness (or just read positive, inspiring material), I would recommend giving this one a try.

The One: An Amazing Love Story Starts with You

Product was received for free in exchange for an honest review.

Most people will admit that they are looking for an amazing love story. We’ve all seen those couples, the ones holding hands or whispering to each other as they stare into one another’s eyes as if they share an awesome secret. We watch them and wonder, what’s up with those two?
We never anticipated becoming one of “those couples.” When we met, we just worked on listening to God and preparing ourselves for the story he planned for us. What we learned and want to share is that no matter what your relationship status may be, this amazing story begins with you.
In this book we share more than the events happening around “The Surprise Wedding.” We share our triumphs and our mistakes, both before and after that day. You’ll learn healthy habits you can start practicing today, ones that will help you lay the groundwork for an incredible marriage later. God has something amazing in mind for you, but he can’t get you there without your help.

We absolutely believe in The One. And we believe that you’re it.

My thoughts:

I never heard of Ryan and Amanda Leak until I read their book, "The One".

This is a true love story.  To actually get engaged and married on the same day.  wow!  But Ryan did just that for his bride to be Amanda's dream.  Amazing how he was able to pull it all together without any help or even hinting to Amanda what he was doing.

What I really enjoyed about this book is that Ryan and Amanda do not come across as being the perfect couple or perfect individuals. They to had obstacles as a couple.  They offer good solid advice in this book.

Once I started reading this book, it was hard to put it down until I finished it.  It was an easy quick read.

Book Review : 10 MINDFUL MINUTES

Product was received for free in exchange for an honest review.

Most know Goldie Hawn as an Academy Award-winning actress, great comedienne, and New York Times bestselling author
However, after a life as an influential pop culture figure, Goldie wanted to find more purpose after age 50 – and she soon found herself as a leading member of the mindfulness movement.
Her new book 10 MINDFUL MINUTES: A Journal (Perigee/Penguin Trade), out June 2, is inspired by her bestselling 10 Mindful Minutes, which offered parents “simple and effective ways…to create calmer, kinder, happier families” (USA Today). Now Goldie’s new journal is a unique guide directing readers to focus on experiences that can be better understood through meditative practice.
        My thoughts:
Goldie Hawn is just a beautiful person, and one of my all time favorite actresses.  I was so delighted to get the chance to read through this book.
What an inspirational book.  This book is broken up into nine sections which are:  Cultivating Optimism, Savoring Happiness, Attitude of Gratitude, Transforming Anger, Releasing Sadness, Sitting with Fear, Discovering Empathy, Becoming Compassionate and Tending to Kindness.  And in the last part of this book is Journaling your way to a more mindful life.
After reading through each section there are writing exercises which are very therapeutic to your mind and soul. It is so uplifting and inspirational. Everything that you do in this book is for you.  It takes you deep and in my opinion as I did the writing exercises it helped me become more positive in my mind.  There is a journaling section in the back with over sixty blank pages to journal in.   I still after reading and doing the writing exercises write down three things I am grateful for daily.

SECRETS OF A 21st CENTURY ALCHEMIST

If it feels as if something is missing from your life, though you may not know what, discover secrets that can help you fill that emptiness. Self-inquiry is necessary in order to awaken to our inherent divine nature. Because that can be a challenging task for many of us, SECRETS OF A 21st CENTURY ALCHEMIST offers readers not only questions to consider on this journey, but also answers to ponder and ideas to contemplate. This potent and inspirational memoir presents convincing insights and lessons for seekers of all faith traditions, or none. It guarantees you'll make some fascinating discoveries about your own life and the role you've come to play at this exciting time in the life of our planet.

My thoughts:

A good book.  Susan Truett Trammell has some good solid information. She offers a lot of tools in helping you understand how to change things in your life.

There are twelve chapters (Secrets as they are called in this book). This book isn't very long, but a good easy read.  I have found through some of this a connection on how things are in my own life, and how I can change things. I do think I will probably skim through this book from time to time.

The Art of Having It All – A Woman’s Guide to Unlimited Abundance

The Art of Having It All – Christy Whitman

Many of us feel like the universe often holds a far bigger vision for us than we are capable of seeing for ourselves at any particular moment in time.  As we get older, and experience life, we see that getting ahead requires that we embrace change and understand that we need to move toward it in a fluid way, not against it … it’s very much like dancing.

It’s not all about winning, or having lots of money, and or a fantastic career and wonderful family. Having it all is more about the feeling we carry with us in the privacy of our own hearts and minds.

In the new book The Art of Having It All – A Woman’s Guide to Unlimited Abundance  (due out January 31, 2015), Christy Whitman offers up a modern strategy for women who want to “have it all”. She lays out a path forward that shows people how to feel thankful, hopeful, and healthy all at the same time, all the time.

The ideas she shares can not only be used to chart a course to greater abundance and success, but to a deeper connection with yourself and an increased ability to enjoy all that you are and all that you have created and have yet to create. Here are some of the steps she recommends women take.

My thoughts:

What a great, powerful book!   I read this book from front to back within two days.  And I plan on re-reading it again.

While reading this book, it was as if Christy Whitman was talking directly to me.  She writes in a simple, easy to follow manner.  Each and every chapter is very powerful.  And at the end of every chapter there is a play sheet, which made me think deep as I was completing the play sheet.

Each chapter in this book is just as good as the one before.  I loved reading Christy   Whitman's personal stories.  I could actually relate to a couple of them.  As I reached the end of this book, I know I can have it all.  I can have a better, loving, happy, peaceful life.  I will also be able to rid and let go of things to hold me back such as my negative doubts.  I will be using a lot of what i read and learned from Christy's book to incorporate  a better life for me.

I highly recommend this book to the young and old, women as well as men.

Book Review: Gone Before: How The Here And There Are Not As Far Apart As We Might Think

Gone Before shares a story of miracles, inspiration, and love that transcends all space and time. Inspired by the end of her mother’s earthly life, it is a gift of never ending hope.
Pittsburgh, PA – Gone Before came about after the death of author Judy Fisher’s mother in 2010 – a vehicle to express the power of what she heard, saw, felt and learned from the experience, and what she continues to learn and feel today. The newly released autobiographical book is published by Outskirts Press.
Throughout her childhood, Judy Fisher heard tales of loved ones reaching back from their next lives to touch those in this world. She both doubted and feared the implications and possibilities presented by the accounts. Then she faced the illness and subsequent death of her mother … and everything changed.
Gone Before is a powerful story of the author’s experiences and personal journey during and since her mother’s death. It is an honest and emotional account of the miracles that occur when those who have crossed over return to comfort, enlighten and assist souls that will soon join them and those left behind.
Because of her mother’s awareness and ability to recount details of the communication she was having with loved ones who have crossed over, author Judy Fisher hears and witnesses her mother’s preparations for her own journey to the other side. It is a rare peek into the process of a soul preparing for, accepting and ultimately embarking on that final journey – and the comfort of knowing a loved one is being cared for and embraced by a legion of loving souls.
Written as a gift to the author’s sons and her mother, Gone Before touches upon the author’s own memories, doubts, fears, and the eventual spiritual awakening that is possible when one realizes and accepts the fact that those on the other side remain in our lives through spirit. It also details how the belief that we will one day join those loving souls can provide confidence and inspiration for the journey we all take through this life.
My thoughts:
Judy Fisher did a fine job with this book.  It is under one hundred fifty pages, and an easy read.
Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down until I finished it.  It was very emotional and had my crying, so be sure to have tissues handy.  Our departed loved ones are still with us.  For anyone who has lost loved ones or anyone near and dear to your heart, than this is definitely a book for you to read.

My daughter saw this book and asked me to write in it so she can keep all of my memories always.  So I will do this for her, but I am also going to do another for my son.

Book Review : I'm a Different Type of Apple

This is the memoir of a boy who stops following in his father's tragic footprints and starts walking in his own direction. In doing so, he has to figure out how to be a boy, a teenager, and a man.
A good read for anyone working in the field of social work, as well as for teachers and parents, Elliott’s book shows that anyone has the potential to be an everyday hero, a family hero or a superhero. It is about how someone can change his or her life and how anyone can help change someone else's life
My Thoughts
Once you start reading this, I can promise you will not put it down until you have read front to back. Kevin and his two brothers had to be raised by their mother, since their father had been incarcerated when Kevin was a young boy.  He was convicted of murder.  Their mother is a true hero.  She taught Kevin and his brothers values.  Kevin was not angel in elementary school, but learned his lessons quickly.  He never wanted to be compared to his father.

Kevin grew up to be an incredible young man.  And he did not end up like his father.  This is a short, easy read book, so i will not give much more of the story away.  But I will say this is a book I will read again and again.  It is an inspiring book.  One that you will say to yourself, anything is possible.

I  am so happy that I had the chance to read this great memoir.

Book Review: The Practice: Simple Tools for Managing Stress, Finding Inner Peace, and Uncovering Happiness

The mind has a way of interfering with personal happiness, often causing stress and doubt. Getting in touch with one's inner source of peace and following its guidance over the mind's often-unfounded concerns requires training and discipline. Knowing this truth intimately, Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life Founder Barb Schmidt developed a three-part spiritual discipline called The PracticeThe Practice is a toolkit to be used throughout the day to guide people who are looking for confidence, less stress, and deeper meaning along life's path. These tools are a compilation of the great Truths taught by authentic teachers and masters throughout the centuries from various religious and spiritual traditions.

My thoughts:

I read this book from front to back in one day.  And I will read it many mores times, I am sure.

I always try to take time for meditation.  I learned so much more about meditation and myself through this book.  While there are some things I can not change, I will be able to change so it will not happen again. To be able to find peace in my inner self, is a beautiful feeling.   Barb Schmidt keeps it simple.  And she wrote this book so you can easily follow what she is explaining.

Book Review : Small Talk: Learning From My Children About What Matters Most

Almost every day, one of Amy Julia’s children says something or asks something that prompts her to think more carefully:  “What ‘lasting’ mean?” William wonders when he hears a song about God being an everlasting God. "If the children who died went to heaven, then why are we sad?” Penny asks, when she passes by a funeral for a victim of the Sandy Hook shootings. "I don't wanna' get 'tized!" says Marilee about baptism. These conversations deepen her relationships with her children, but they also deepen and refine her own understanding of what she believes, why she believes it, and what she hopes to pass along to the next generation.
Small Talk is a narrative based upon these conversations. It is not a parenting guide. It does not offer prescriptive lessons about how to talk with children. Rather, it tells stories based upon the questions and statements Amy Julia’s children have made about the things that make life good (such as love, kindness, beauty, laughter, and friendship), the things that make life hard (such as death, failure, and tragedy), and what we believe (such as prayer, God, and miracles).
Amy Julia moves in rough chronological order through the basic questions her kids asked when they were very young  to the more intellectual and spiritual questions of later childhood. Small Talk invites other parents into these same conversations, with their children, with God, and with themselves. Moving from humorous exchanges to profound questions to heart-wrenching moments, Amy Julia encourages parents to ask themselves—and to talk with their children about—what matters most.

My thoughts:

This is a great book.  Children are a true blessing and a gift from god.  I really enjoyed reading about Amy Becker and her children, and how she handled certain situations with her three children.  I could so relate with some things in this book with having two children of my own.

Amy is such a caring loving mother, and just reading how she handled death of a relative and how she talked about heaven with her children, she just knew the right words to say to soften the conversation. I read this book from front to back, and I am sure I will probably re read it again in time.

Whether you have children or not, this is a book that anyone would enjoy reading.

I really enjoyed reading Carol Whitaker's Personal Journey in the beginning of her book.  It makes you feel like you are getting to know the person she is and how she got to be this person.

Carol Whitaker writes in such an easy to follow and understand format.  Once you start reading, it is hard to put the book down.  Every section has more and more information that is very helpful in helping you becoming a happier person.  One of my favorite section in this book is "Enjoy Life".  Something that we sometimes forget to do.  I read the five keys to a happy life three times.  A section I will go back to again and again.

As I read this book, I learned more about myself I didn't know and through Carol's sections in her book, I now am trying daily to live the happiest, positive life I can.

Book Review: Finding Vern

In Finding Vern a young widow gives her heart felt account of lessons on life, love and the evidence she uncovered when she sought answers on the afterlife. Her touching and remarkable miracle laden story will give rise to thought to any discerning but curious mind.

After receiving a convincing reading through an evidential spiritual medium, Darcy the author received many more miraculous signs that her beloved was by her side. She not only learned his soul survived but she discovered a world of untapped human potential. She came to the realization much of what we experience is limited by our self imposed expectations of reality. When your mind is opened to beyond what can be empirically imparted the possibilities are infinite.

Darcy's discoveries have inspired her to create a foundation that will provide an organized way to gather and explore those possibilities as well as aid the bereaved in healing the heart.

"Finding Vern will give skeptics cause to re-evaluate and believers a new slant on an area they thought they knew. Regardless which camp you currently reside in, this book is a must read for all." - Editor, Amanda Brown

"This has to be the most powerful book about life after death I have yet to read!" - Spiritual Author and Medium Jacqueline Murray

About the Author
Darcy Bellows Mascorrro is a veteran Marketing Creative professional. After the tragic loss of her beloved husband to be Vern, Darcy embarked on a side career as paranormal investigator. Darcy worked under the tutelage of Psychic Medium Michelle Tedrow who was the lead psychic investigator for the Central California Paranormal Investigator group in early 2009.

Darcy and Michelle also launched a group they call the Lightworker's Foundation whose mission is to explore and share spiritual gifts and knowledge. There are currently three locations in California for the foundation, they are active groups that hold monthly psychic development/healing circles and host classes like Mediumship 101. Darcy is now teaching what she has learned about our innate psychic abilities.

Darcy is also most importantly the proud mother of two beautiful daughters and two cats. Darcy was born and raised in Minnesota. She currently resides in San Diego and has been a longtime California resident.

Our Thoughts

I'm a believer in the afterlife and always have been. Even though I am a believer, I still have a fear of loosing my husband because he is the love of my life. Having read Darcy's book, it puts into perspective that our experience are only limited by ourselves.

I admire the journey that Darcy went on to find Vern in her life after he was physically gone. I believe that she gives the readers a real sense of peace knowing that there is something more waiting for us when we physically leave this place and even more that we can connect with our loved ones if they leave before us.

I enjoyed this book so much that I am borrowing it to friends so that they can read it too. I know that I have a couple friends who have lost the loves of their lives and will really appreciate Darcy's words and journey.

If you'd like to purchase Finding Vern, please visit Amazon. You can also follow Darcy on Twitter and Facebook.
