Stylish Mode Headbands

Rebecca, owner of Stylish Mode, has a passion for creativity. She started Stylish Mode back in 2007 when she was on the hunt for the perfect headband, and ended up sewing her own.

Rebecca believes that headbands don't just hold your hair back, they add that pretty feminine compliment to our outfits that make us unique. It's about wearing the best quality headbands around, standing out like a well made suit. It's about creating your own personal sense of style, that make those around you smile and say "hi".

Back in 2009 Rebecca was honored to have had her handmade keychains featured in Woman's World magazine.

She has a love for all things colorful, fabrics with retro prints and flowers, and is a self-proclaimed animal print addict. Have a look through the shop, you'll see these themes carry on over into the handmade headbands available on the site.

My Thoughts

These bands were very soft and super comfortable when I wore them. Unlike other head bands that have given me a headache, I could wear these without getting pain around my ear or slipping off my head throughout the day. These stayed put. They were very light weight and just felt good while wearing them. I was able to choose 2 designs from their website to review and choosing just two was hard.

There is a small elastic part (photo above) that gives this the ability to stretch. The material is stretchy as well. The stitching is great on these, I couldn't find anything out of place, so definitely a good quality. 

The bands are wide, so if you were to wear these out running and it was chilly outside, they could easily cover your ears and keep your hair out of your face with no problems. While I haven't washed mine, I would think you could put these into a pillow case and toss in the washer when they get to sweaty if you use them working out. I'd air dry just to be safe. 

Over all, excellent headbands. I think I will be ordering more because there are a ton to choose from, as well as other styles besides the two I chose. They also have turban headbands, and tie yourself headbands.

My Thoughts
Until now I have absolutely despised head bands!  They have never fit my head and they've always slipped off half way through whatever I was doing. Having long hair, the headband falling is utterly annoying.

Trying the Urban Halo I was skeptical because of all the bad luck I've had in the past. I was pleasantly surprised when the halo stayed where it was put! I was so happy that I didn't have hair falling in my face as I was trying to put makeup on and that it actually helped tame my wild mess the whole day! Quite honestly I can not wait till spring when I can wear the halo while I'm working my horses as that's the time that I seem to have more problems than not with my hair getting in my face!

Why headbands and kids' cancer?

 
At Headbands of Hope, it's not only about what we sell, it's why we sell it. 

For girls and women everywhere, their hair is a part of their feminine identity. Wigs can be uncomfortable and unappealing, especially to younger girls. 

Headbands of Hope was started by Jess Ekstrom, who interned at the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Western North Carolina. During her internship, she saw that girls loved to wear headbands after losing their hair to chemotherapy. Many girls fighting childhood cancer lose their hair during their rigorous chemotherapy treatments. Headbands are the perfect way for these girls to keep their feminine identity and have a constant reminder that they're not alone. 



Headbands of Hope provides a movement to spread hope in all girls and fight in the battle against childhood cancer, one headband at a time.

So why childhood cancer?

Childhood cancer takes the lives of more children in the U.S. than any other disease - in fact, more than many other childhood diseases combined.

Children with cancer cannot be treated simply as "smaller adults." First, the cancers that strike them are very different from the more common adult cancers, having different causes and needing different treatments. Also, children are being treated while in crucial stages of the development of their bodies and minds, complicating the effects of treatments and often resulting in life-long complications.

Although research over the last 40 years has raised the overall cure rate from virtually none to about 80%, many types of childhood cancer remain very difficult to cure. Progress is also especially slow in curing adolescents and young adults, because federal funding for childhood cancers is a fraction compared to adult cancers.

Therefore, attention needs to be brought to childhood cancer. Progress can't be made without research. Research can't be done without funding. And funding can't be done without awareness. Headbands of Hope aims to start with awareness and end with a cure.

Worldwide every 3 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer. Let's conquer kids' cancer . . . one headband at a time.

Our Thoughts
I received two Headbands of Hope to review, a silver glitter and a pink and white chevron print, which came beautifully packaged in a reusable bag. They are made of very soft, stretchy elastic that will fit many sizes.

Headbands of Hope come in two different sizes, 0 - 6 years (15") and 6 - adult (18"), and retail for $9.75 each. They offer many different styles from Shabby Flowers, Tie Dye, Sweaty Bands, Glitter, Chevron, Lace, Beaded, Bows, Simply Solids, and even offer Hope Gear: a bumper sticker, and two t-shirt options. My favorites are the Shabby Flowers and the Glitter. Headbands of Hope are a great fashion accessory that's for a great cause!
