 My Thoughts

Barbie returns for an underwater tale filled with magic and intrigue. In this new film, Barbie is Lumina, a beautiful mermaid who has the power to make pearls dance and glow.  With just a flick of her fingers she can use her pearls to make anything beautiful and even create some fancy hairstyles. All her life Lumina has dreamed of becoming a princess. When she receives an invitation to the ball, she and her little seahorse companion Kuda set off on an adventure to the mer-kingdom where Barbie looks for the answers to her destiny. She uses her special abilities to help decorate for the royal ball, and in process she learns that her magic might be the key to unlocking her future She also makes lots of friends including a variety of other mermaids and even an octopus. Of course, there's also a hint of romance with one of the merman at the castle.

Barbie and the Pearl Princess is a wonderful family film. Kids will adore the bright colors of this underwater world. The music is fast-paced and upbeat. Like all the Barbie movies, there are lessons about friendship and staying true to yourself. Every little girl should have this movie in their collection.

To go along with the fun release of the DVD, some beautiful new toys will be swimming onto store shelves. My daughter was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the new mermaid dolls, and she thought they were fantastic.

The Pearl Princess mermaid dolls have beautiful fins with realistic scales embellished with pearls. The doll is able to bend at the waist to allow for sitting or swimming. Both her necklace and bra top are drawn onto her body. My daughter is four and I really prefer the dolls this way because she can't lose  the pieces. This also allows for the doll to be submerged if you'd like to play with it in the bathtub or the pool. In Barbie's hair you'll find a pretty crown and a string of pearls with a comb attached to the end of it. The comb allows you to scoop up her hair in a variety of styles. This was a little challenging for my younger daughter but older kids should enjoy being able to style Barbie's hair. Younger kids will love being able splash around with their own magical mermaid! Its a win-win for girls of all ages.

There are several other mermaid dolls with different colored fins including pink and orange. With Easter only a few weeks away, both the The Pearl Princes Movies and the dolls would make a great basket stuffer!  If you're interested in getting The Pearl Princess on DVD or grabbing one of the toys , they are available now in stores nationwide including Target or online at Mattel. Also be sure to visit Barbie on face book for lots of fun activities.

My Thoughts

My daughter absolutely adores this doll! The set comes with a pretty blonde barbie in a pair of cute pink capri pants and a flowered blue three quarter shirt. But the thing that makes it really special is Taffy. This adorable puppy dog is a very interactive toy for kids. You can actually feed it biscuits and it poops when you press on its tail!  This might seem odd to some, but my daughter thought it was the coolest feature ever. She loves picking up the poop with the little scooper and putting it in the trashcan. There's just something about pooping that's cool to little kids.

Barbie and Taffy come with everything you need to be a responsible pet owner. There's a food bowl, trash bin, leash, biscuits and poop pellets. Some of these pieces are very tiny, so it's definitely only for kids around four and up. But Taffy does come with a little sack attached to her back which is the perfect place to store your treats and pellets when you aren't playing with them.

With the pretty spring clothes and the promise of warm spring walks with your pooch, Barbie Potty Training Taffy is the perfect choice for little girls this Easter!

Barbie & Her Sisters in a Pony Tale DVD and Toy Sets!

***Complimentary product received in exchange for an honest review***

Barbie and her sisters set off on a Swiss adventure to the majestic Alps, where they're excited to spend the summer at a fun-filled riding academy. Barbie can't wait to find a new horse to bring back to Malibu, Stacie is excited to prove she's an amazing equestrian, all Chelsea wants to do is ride the big horses, and Skipper… well, let's just say she's more interested in writing about the great outdoors than experiencing it. The sisters' vacation gets off to a rocky start, but when Barbie discovers a mysterious wild horse in the woods, their visit becomes truly magical.

 My Thoughts

My family has been following Barbie's movie adventures for over a decade, but we were especially excited for Barbie and Her Sisters in a Pony Tale. My three-year-old loves horses and for her, nothing  could be better than watching Barbie ride. In this move, Barbie and the girls visit their aunt at their riding academy. Some of them excel at riding right away while others find it a little challenging, but they all work through their issues and not only learn to ride but to treat the animals with respect.

Since Barbie is the oldest, she is able to go out riding on her own. One day she gets into trouble and is almost attacked by wolves and a beautiful wild mare saves her. Later she returns the favor. The two of them develop a friendship and she starts to train the horse. In the meantime, Skipper learns her aunt is in danger of losing the riding academy to a rival family who wants to capture the beautiful wild horses and break them. Barbie has two very good reasons to enter the race that could save her aunt's school, but it won't be as easy as she thinks when not everyone is playing fair.

My family and I really enjoyed watching this film together. Like all the Barbies movies, it offers a interesting storyline with a moral but also has fun songs and characters little girls can really relate to. My daughter loved meeting Barbie's little sisters, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea. Its fun to see all the dolls we grew up with and their different personalities. Girls will also love the beautiful horses and the sweet little puppies that are always running around the academy. A Pony Tale is definitely a fun movie for the whole family and a top pick for family movie night.

To go along with the fun release, some beautiful new toys will be trotting onto store shelves. My daughter was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the new dolls, and she thought they were fantastic. The set we received comes with all four of the Barbie sisters in their formal-wear. There hair is beautifully styled but still fun to brush. Each of the dresses has tons of detail and each one is unique. They even come with matching shoes and jewelry. They can be changed if you decide to purchase additional clothing or already have other outfits. The average going price of $39.99 is a great deal for four different dolls and would make a great gift for any little girl. But the best part of that they correspond to the movie and kids can play with them while they watch.

If you are interested in getting the new Barbie and her Sisters in a toys or DVD, they are available now in stores nationwide including Target or online at Mattel . Also be sure to visit Barbie on face book.

Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess Toys

***Complimentary product received in exchange for an honest review***

On August 27,^th Barbie is releasing her 26th title – Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess! In this title, Barbie is bringing back the beloved Mariposa character and spreading positive messages, laughter and pink-tastic fun!

Mariposa and her furry friend Zee return in Barbie: Mariposa and the Fairy Princess. In this magical adventure, Mariposa becomes the royal Ambassador of Flutterfield, and is sent to forge a lasting peace between her fairy land and their rivals, the Crystal Fairies of Shimmervale. While Mariposa doesn't make a great first impression on their King, she becomes fast friends with his shy daughter, Princess Catania. However, a misunderstanding causes Mariposa to be banished from the fairy land. As Mariposa and Zee return to Flutterfield, they encounter a dark fairy on her way to destroy Shimmervale.

 My Thoughts

To go along with the fun release, some beautiful new toys will be flying onto store shelves. My daughter was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the new Barbie Mariposa dolls, and she was she thought they were fairy-tastic.

There are two dolls in the Marisposa collection and each one is a magical addition to the Barbie family. First, there is the Fairy Princess Mariposa Doll. She is made with gigantic wings that remind me of a monarch butterfly.  They are almost as big as she is and definitely help imagination take flight. The really cool thing about the doll is that you can take the wings and wrap them around her waist, creating a equally stunning ball gown. Just press the button on her necklace to once again transform her into a butterfly princess.

The second doll now available is the Fairy Princess Catania and she is sure to be a hit with little princesses everywhere. Like Mariposa, she has offers a gown that is two beautiful ensembles in one.  The first dress is a simple but elegant pink that displays Catania's everyday nobility. But with a press of the jeweled button on her waist, the gown opens to a glittery masterpiece that no little girl can resist.  In addition to her color-changing gown, she also has shimmery wings that can be lifted up and down.

My daughter loved her dolls and we can't want to grab the DVD and enjoy some quality family time together. She loves Mariposa so much, we are definitely adding the beautiful Fairy Princess Castle Play set to our Christmas wish list. This portable and interactive play set mimics the fairy castle and is the perfect place to reenact all your favorite scenes from the movie. If you are interested in getting the new  Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess toys or DVD, they are available now in stores nationwide including Target or online at Mattel . Also be sure to visit Barbie on face book.
