Acorn TV features the DVD debut of award-nominated feel-good medical drama, THE HEART GUY, Series 4 on April 14, 2020. Akin to an Aussie Doc Martin with its fish-out-of-water premise and eccentric characters, this smash-hit series from Oscar nominated writer Tony McNamara (The Favourite) and producer Ian Collie (Jack Irish, Rake) follows Hugh Knight (Rodger Corser, The Doctor Blake Mysteries), a rising star in the Sydney heart-surgery ranks. Hugh is gifted, charming, and seemingly infallible, but after an incident involving drugs and alcohol, he’s forced to practice as a GP in his rural hometown and deal with his complicated family situation. Now on a three-disc DVD set ($59.99, Amazon.com), The Heart Guy previously premiered on Acorn TV in December 2019. Called a “glorious streaming service… an essential must-have” (The Hollywood Reporter), AMC Networks’ Acorn TV is North America’s most popular and largest streaming service featuring high-quality television from Britain and Beyond.
This season follows Hugh in the wake of last season’s unexpected pregnancies and heartache. Hugh’s sobriety and successes are tested by ever-evolving professional struggles and a new probationary resident at the clinic. With the added stress of navigating parenthood, Hugh faces his most challenging time yet.
The Heart Guy has been nominated for several Logie awards, including “Most Popular Drama Program” and “Most Outstanding Drama Series” as well as Rodger Corser for eight nominations for his role as Hugh Knight (Gold Logie, “Most Popular Actor” and “Most Outstanding Actor”).

My Thoughts
The Heart Guy is a fun series that merges medical drama and comedy into one fun package. The series centers around a genius heart doctor named named Hugh Knight. His life is going great until he is arrested for a drugs charge. Now he has to return home and work in the little hospital where he grew up. This leads to conflicts with his family, especially his ex who married his brother. Series three has ten exciting episodes.
Hugh Am I - Eliza turns one and the clinic is getting an upgrade. Hugh gets distracted by a pretty new doctor named Tara and Charlies makes a reappearance. Meryl faces some challenges.
Don't Stop Me Now - Hugh makes a big mistake which leaves him without a job. Penny mentors Tara.
Self-Fulfilling Prophecies - Harriet's mother comes to town and gets involved with the Knights, then goes missing with Eliza. Hugh needs to turn to Jarrod to help locate them.
A House Divided - There is a lot of tension between Ajax and Meryl. Penny & Jarrod move up their engagement, but a everything is jeopardized by by an outbreak at the hospital.
The Getaway - Hugh asks Dinah to stick around. Ajax and Haley want to move out. Before he leaves on his honeymoon, Jarrod asked Hugh to help out with drug testing at the mines.
Oh Baby - Meryl gives Hugh an ultimatum. April finds out she's pregnant. The mine and hospital set up a friendly sporting event,
The Sum of All Our Choices - Hugh helps Tara with random drug testing which brings their relationship out in the open. Penny has suspicions about Jarrod which she brings up to Penny.
Cursed - Hugh's birthday takes a turn for the worse when Tara is found unconscious. Her parents show up as the crew tries to save her life.
Octopus Trap Heart - Hugh is trying to forget his embarrassing outburst and Meryl is having health issues.
Ring of Fire - Penny almost dies in a car crash. Jarrod is offered a new job in another town, and Penny has to decide if she wants to leave.
This is a great show. There is lots of drama, but also plenty of humor. I'm enjoying the gradual evolution of Hugh as he starts to come to terms with his new life and realize the errors in the way he lived before. I'm excited to see what happens next season.
