Acorn TV’s heartwarming Aussie-Kiwi dramedy 800 Words, Season 2, Part 2 makes its DVD debut on August 22, 2017 from Acorn TV, an RLJ Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand. After its breakout success and #1 ranking in Australia, a second season with twice as many episodes was commissioned to air in two installments. The second eight episodes (Part 2) continue with the saga of George Turner (Erik Thomson, Packed to the Rafters, The Code), a man looking to make a new home for himself and his family, in a strangely beautiful and quirky New Zealand coastal town. The series has received Logie Awards for Best Actor for Erik Thomson and Most Outstanding Newcomer for Melinda Vidler as George’s daughter Shay. This 2-Disc DVD set features 8 episodes ($49.99, Amazon.com). 800 Words, Season 2 made its U.S. premiere in May 2017 on Acorn TV. Called a “glorious streaming service… an essential must-have” (The Hollywood Reporter), Acorn TV is North America’s most popular and largest streaming service focused on British and international television.
With his family back together, George Turner and his kids, Shay and Arlo (Benson Jack Anthony), fall into the comfortable routine of life in the small, quirky New Zealand town of Weld.
Arlo prepares for the new school term and tries to maintain a long-distance relationship, while Shay considers becoming an artist. George has a steady job writing for the local newspaper and his budding relationship with Fiona (Michelle Langstone, The Almighty Johnsons) is the talk of the town. But shocking news from Jan (Bridie Carter, McLeod’s Daughters) threatens to turn George’s comfortable life upside down.
This “explicitly heartwarming… family tale” (The New York Times) also stars Rick Donald (A Place to Call Home), Emma Leonard(Home and Away), Anna Jullienne (The Blue Rose), and Ditch Davey (Spartacus: War of the Damned).

My Thoughts
800 Words is a cute comedy about a widower who decides to move his family to a little coastal town. But his new beginning doesn't go quite as smoothly as he planned. The quirky locals can't keep to themselves and George and his kids find themselves the center of attention, This season has eight delightful episodes:
1- George and Fiona are hitting it off, but Robbie wants her back. Monty stands up to his brother and causes a stir.
2- Somehow a private dinner for George and Fiona becomes a dinner party which puts a strain on the budding relationship.
3- Arlo wants to become a chef and George isn't happy.
4 - George and Fiona go away for the weekend. Arlo hopes for some time alone with Emma, but Lindsay throws a party.
5- Jan is pregnant and Fiona is worried. Katie and Shay get wrapped up in an art scam
6- George is pressured to put a celebrity chef on the front page.
7 - Terry proposes to Hannah and Jan is back in town.
8 - George could get fired over backlash on this chef article and Tom is trying to solve an art theft.
This series will make you laugh at times and get emotional at times. The relationship between George and his kids has it's challenges, but it's also touching. Living in a small coastal town myself, I could definitely relate to the quirky locals. If you'd like to grab a copy of this DVD set, it is available online at Acorn Media and online at Amazon.
