Murdoch Mysteries, Season 7 (DVD/Blu-ray Debut) -
“If you haven’t seen it, you must.”
(Globe & Mail) - The hit Canadian mystery
featuring forensic sleuthing in the age of invention
is back for a seventh installment.
Deftly
written with plenty of period charm, this critically acclaimed mystery
series centers on the brilliant detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson,
Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye), a pioneer of crime-solving technologies in Victorian Toronto. Based on novels by Maureen Jennings,
Murdoch Mysteries airs on the CBC in Canada and recently began airing in the U.S. as
The Artful Detective on Ovation. The DVD and Blu-ray 5-disc sets
include 18 episodes and nearly two hours of bonus featurettes. Season 7
made its U.S. premiere on Acorn TV.
My Thoughts
I think this is one of my favorite crime based shows. I love period drama, and I love learning about criminal investigations. This show combines both in a late 1890 - early 1900 setting. You'll learn how forensics experts solved the cases before they had the help of computers. The cast of characters are funny, interesting, and diverse. I especially love the female coroner who is making her way in a man's world. While the main characters are fictional, along they way they cross paths with some famous figures from history. This season includes 18 exciting episodes.
Episode 1: Murdoch Ahoy - Detective Murdoch and Chief Inspector Brackenreid are forced out to sea when when a threat on a new ship needs to be monitored.
Episode 2: Tour de Murdoch - Murdoch enters a bike race and one of his opponents ends up dead.
Episode 3: The Filmed Adventures of Detective William Murdoch - A man is murdered during a film and the director is so impressed with Murdoch he wants to make a movie about him.
Episode 4: Return of Sherlock Holmes - Murdoch joins forces with Sherlock Holmes to solve a murder.
Episode 5: Murdoch of the Living Dead - Murdoch suspect there is more to the story when a daughter takes the blame for her mother's murder.
Episode 6: Murdochophobia- A patient dies under odd circumstance while trying to cure their phobias and Murdoch faces a few fears of his own.
Episode 7: Loch Ness Murdoch - A purity pageant contestant turns up dead in the water. Is it a competitor or a sea monster?
Episode 8: Republic of Murdoch - Crabtree must return to his hometown of Newfoudland to find the answer to a murder.
Episode 9: A Midnight Train to Kingston - Murdoch and his team are stuck on a train with
James Gillies on his way to be executed.
Episode 10: Murdoch in Ragtime - A singer is found dead which leads Murdoch to a shady jazz club.
Episode 11: Journey to the Center of Toronto - Murdoch is baffled by a series of jewelry robbers because it appears the culprit tunneled in by hand.
Episode 12 Unfinished Business - A death bed confession doesn't add up and Murdoch decides to dig a little deeper.
Episode 13: The Murdoch Sting - The president of the bank goes missing along with this fiance.
Episode 14: Friday the 13th, 1901 - Julia and Emily are trying to enjoy a bachelorette party but one of the guests turns up dead.
Episode 15: The Spy Who Came Up to the Cold - Murdoch and the team try to figure out who attempted to assassinate the American president.
Episode 16: Kung Fu Crabtree - A Chinese official searching for rebels is murdered and Crabtree is put on the case.
Episode 17: Blast of Silence - Two influential men are found with noise-activated bombs strapped to their chests.
Episode 18: The Death of Dr. Ogden - A competitive puzzle solver is murdered and the real puzzle is figuring out who did it.
This series is definitely a refreshing switch from the norm, and I'm looking forward to getting the other seasons. If you want to take the advantage of a full set of amazing old world stories, than this is the box set for you. You can order Murdoch Mysteries Season 7 on both DVD and Blu-Ray on Acorn Media or amazon.

I love this kind of show! I watch the old Miss Marple movies and Agatha Christie too. This reminds me a lot of those as well as the ones you can find of BBC. Would love to own this!
