DVD Review: Line of Duty Series 2

Hailed as “the most tightly-plotted and nerve-shredding drama seen on British television in years” (Daily Mail), Line of Duty, Series 2 makes its DVD debut on September 2, 2014 from Acorn, an RLJ Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand. The critically lauded drama returns for six riveting episodes that received even better ratings than the first series, which was BBC Two's best-performing drama series in 10 years. Series 2 follows AC-12, a police anti-corruption unit, charged with investigating an ambush of a police convoy and its lone surviving cop (Keeley Hawes, Upstairs, Downstairs, Ashes to Ashes). The returning stars from Series 1 include Vicky McClure (Broadchurch, This is England), Adrian Dunbar (The Crying Game, Ashes to Ashes) and Martin Compston (Monarch of the Glen, The Great Train Robbery). Like other police units, AC-12 catches criminals—but the offenders it investigates are fellow officers. Under the direction of Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar), partners Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and Detective Constable Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) begin to put the pieces of the case together. Their investigation takes them ever higher up the police hierarchy. My Thoughts

This is a series that is filled with plot twists and surprises, and each episode ends in a cliff hanger. Series 2 picks up with more police corruption. There are six gripping episodes in this unforgettable season.

EPISODE 1 - A police convoy is ambushed and Denton, the only survivor, might be a witness or might be a suspect.

EPISODE 2 - More evidence piles up against Denton, but she's fighting every step of the way. Before long, she has her superiors on the defensive. 

EPISODE 3- Denton is in prison, but she reveals to Fleming that she thinks the whole thing is a set up.  There is also an investigation into a murdered teen found under a garage door.

EPISODE 4-Denton is convinced there is a conspiracy. Arnott and Fleming start to believe her story when they escort her to visit her dying mother and witness the threat to her life first-hand.

 EPISODE 5 - While Denton is fighting for her life, Hastings discovers she was involved with one of her senior officers.

EPISODE 6 - Arnott is starting to believe in Denton, but Fleming isn't quite as convinced. There is a race for the truth and an intense ending that will leave you with your mouth hanging open.

 Overall, this was an awesome series. The action level is constant and there's never a dull moment. If you want to get the advantage of a full set of amazing  stories that will leave you on the edge of your seat, than this is the box set for you.
