With the return of fan favorite Kevin Whately, The Broker’s Man, Series 2 makes its North American DVD debut on August 5, 2014 from Acorn, an RLJ Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand. Whately, from the popular Inspector Lewis and Inspector Morse mysteries, returns as Jimmy Griffin, an ex-cop turned insurance investigator. This sharply written mystery is a fresh twist on the genre and garnered critical acclaim during its two-series run. The 1997-98 BBC series also stars Annette Elkdom (Holby City, London’s Burning), Jill Baker (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen), Holly Davidson (The Bill), and John McEnery (Silent Witness). This DVD 2-disc set features the final six episodes ($39.99, AcornOnline.com). Series 1 and Series 2 made their North American premieres earlier this year on Acorn TV (www.Acorn.TV), the premier British TV streaming service.
In
The Broker’s Man, Jimmy’s cunning and insight are well-suited to
the business of exposing con men and other fraudsters. With his police
training, he’s able to take on any case, no matter how dangerous. If
only he could be as successful in his personal
life.
Series 2
finds Jimmy contending with ever more complex cases, including
a kayaking trip gone tragically wrong and a rave that mysteriously goes
up in flames. At home, Jimmy struggles to rebuild his relationship with
his ex-wife (Annette Ekblom) as they deal with their teenage daughter’s
rebellious streak. Jimmy’s downfall has
always been his inability to separate his private and professional
lives, but in these final six thrilling episodes, he’s plunged into a
case where separating family and career is impossible.

My Thoughts
In The Broker's Man, Jimmy's business is exposing con men, but while he's great at this job, his personal life is in a bit of shambles. His relationship with his ex-wife is shaky and his teenage daughter is getting out of hand. This set includes six thrilling episodes:
Pensioned Off - Jimmy investigates when a cop falls down the stairs. It looks like it might be a case of harassment.
Horses for Courses - Jimmy's daughter Jodi sneaks out to a rave and almost gets killed in a fire. Jimmy discovers the blaze may not be an accident.
Playback - When two little boys are lost during a kayak trip, their parents come to Jimmy when they are given a small settlement because there are no bodies.
Kith and Kin - Jimmy takes over a case involving the theft of a military medal where the thief is looking for a ransom.
Keyman - An oil rig founder is murdered while visiting a lady of the night. Jimmy takes over the life insurance claim.
Swansong - Jimmy's home is robbed and when he puts in a claim he finds there may be a connection between this case and the death of a singer's husband.
This unique series brings you exciting mysteries told without a lot of blood and gore. The acting is suburb and I love how they show the personal side of Jimmy's life as well as the professional. It makes his character much easier to relate to. If you'd like to grab a copy of this awesome DVD set, you can find The Brokers Man Series 2 on Acorn Media for only $39.99 or you can grab a copy on Amazon.
