My Thoughts

Son of God is a sort of spin off of The Bible series that allowed people to see the stunning scenes from the New Testament on the big screen. Most of the scenes were previously seen in The Bible, but there are a few deleted scenes that were added in.  If you already have or have seen the original Bible series, there isn't much new here, but it was a nice refresher. The acting, the scenery, and the special effects were are amazing.

It was stunning watching Jesus touch the lives of the people. I was especially happy to see Mary Magellan given a primary role among this followers, equal to that of the men.  The crucifixion scene was really well done. Religious views aside, to see a undeserving man suffer in such a horrible way, to see his mother and friends weeping as they watched,  brought tears to my eyes. Yes, there are some plot holes and inconsistencies.  Like any book that is adapted into a movie, it's impossible to get every aspect covered exactly as it was written, but as far as bible stories go, this was one of the best I've ever seen.
