My Thoughts
When I was a kid, I remember standing in the arcade, playing Donkey Kong. I admit video games were never my greatest talent, so I got hit with more than one barrel. Twenty years later, Donkey Kong is still a household name and he's come a long way from his barrel throwing days. He's really not such a bad guy, which you'll find out for yourself in his movie debut, King Kong Country.
Computer animation springs to life in this brand new DVD release. Donkey Kong and his little buddy Diddy Kong team up to stop King R. Rool and his band of Kremlins from reeking havoc, but it won't be easy. After a routine haircut, Donkey Kong loses his strength. To make matters worse, an evil robot clone is out to get him and the precious Crystal Coconut. The pair must overcome their fears to defeat the bad guys and along the way, they learn that true strength has little to do with muscle.
My children absolutely adored this movie. It was so fun for them to see one of their favorite characters coming to life on the screen. The graphics are amazing and the story line has a good moral. Kids of all ages, and even parents who remember this lovable character, will enjoy watching the movie together. Donkey Kong Country is a fast paced adventure and a great choice for family movie night. Its swinging into stores nationwide on 8/20, so be sure to head to Walmart or Target and grab yourself a copy.
