ADVENTURES OF DALLY & SPANKY – Starring Brenna D’Amico and Trace Adkins
Inspired by the true animal friendship of a Jack Russell Terrier and a rescued miniature horse, the story of Dally & Spanky’s bond has captivated audiences. This sensational duo has generated millions of video views and is now the inspiration for this brand-new feature film!
Addy and Ella are teenaged half-sisters with little in common. When 17-year-old Addy loses her father, she retreats from her family and struggles to deal with his loss. Ella, with her dog Dally, reaches out to create a bond with Addy and Spanky, the miniature horse she’s just inherited from her father. Not only do the animals get along, but they quickly become a dynamic duo thanks to Addy and Ella’s training. Their act quickly goes viral and wins their high school talent show, bringing the girls closer! Unfortunately, the family realizes that the cost to keep Spanky is too high and they’ll have to send him away. But Addy gets an idea and submits their routine to a popular TV talent show. Now, it’s all or nothing…and ANYTHING can happen!
My Thoughts
The Adventures of Dally & Spanky is an adorable film about two half sisters. The older sister Addy loses her father and the younger sister Ella struggles to find a way to bond. Ella has a little dog and Addy has a miniature horse and the two become fast friends. The sisters follow their lead and work together to train their pets. They run into trouble when financial issues make keeping the horse a challenge, but the sisters work together to find a way to keep him.
My kids always love movies with animals in them, especially dogs. This one was lots of fun you also get to see the dog performing alongside a horse. The story-line is a little predictable, but it will be a lot of fun for younger viewers. It's also inspired by a true story. Anything with cute farm animals is always a big win in our house There is no violence, but lots of laughs. It also teaches kids a great lesson about the importance of family. This is a great choice for a family film on family movie night. It's a flick the whole family is sure to enjoy.

BLU-RAYTM, DVD AND DIGITAL BONUS FEATURES:
- A Look Inside Kidnap – Star Halle Berry, Director Luis Prieto, and 2nd Unit Director/Stunt Coordinator Steven Ritzi discuss how Karla Dyson’s desperation to rescue her son made her capable of the extraordinary.
My Thoughts
Kidnap is an exiting thriller starring the amazing Halle Barry. The film centers around Karla, a single mom who is enjoying some time with her son at the amusement park. She loses sight of him for barely a second, but looks back just in time to see someone trying to get away with her son. She didn't have a phone, and there was no time to wait for help. She jumps in her car and follows the kidnappers. She hangs onto the car, drives through crashes and accidents, ignores police, and eventually faces the kidnappers one-on-one.
Overall, I thought this was a really great film. There was action and intrigue, and it's great to see a thriller from a mother's perspective. Usually the father is the one who runs to the rescue while mom sits home crying and taking sedatives. As a single mom, this wasn't an option for this character, and I'm sure there are many of us out there who can relate. Halle Berry was just perfect for this role. She embodies a strong woman, but can still invoke powerful emotion. This is definitely a must-watch film with non-stop action and a few twists along the way.

"Boo It Forward" with Ghostbusters #booitforward
With Halloween right around the corner, Ghostbusters has partnered with Walmart to create Ghostbusters themed "Boo It Forward" kits. The tradition of "Booing your Neighbor" has really grown in popularity the last few years. It's a fun, safe, family-oriented activity. It's also known as "Ghosting" or "Boo-gramming."
This week, my kids put together a home decorated bag of treats for a few of their local friends. They included a note with instructions on how to "boo" and a cute little poem. Now the next person can deliver a gift anonymously to their neighbor, friend, or relative. The recipient has 48 hours to boo their next door neighbor or friend. It's like a chain letter, but way more fun.
After booing it forward, we went back home to relax with our blu-ray copy of Ghostbusters. I was excited to see this version of an old favorite. Seeing women leading the way was a great twist, but that wasn't the only difference. There are new villains to battle and modern day graphics that take special effects to a whole new level.
This is definitely not what I expected, but I wasn't disappointed. Though it is loosely based on the original, this movie can certainly stand on it's own. I'm so glad that Slimer still played a role in the movie. I was a kid myself back when the original Ghostbusters came out. To make it even more fun, the extended version has some bonus footage you won't find anywhere else .Getting to watch the new version with my own children was like carrying on a tradition! My kids loved it just as much as I did.
