Movie Review : 12 Dog Days Till Christmas

When charming yet misguided juvenile delinquent Jack Whitley gets in trouble again just a few weeks before Christmas, he is sent to his probation officer Art Davis. Art gives Jack a community service task he hopes will ultimately change Jack for the better--to help clean up a local animal shelter that will soon be closing its doors. Jack soon meets the three girls who run it: the bubbly Blair, beautiful Hillary, and Hillary's tomboy-ish stepsister Ryan. When Jack sets his sights on scoring a date with Hillary, Ryan promises him a date with her stepsister if only Jack will use his charms to help place each of the dogs in homes so that none will be euthanized in the city shelter. Jack reluctantly agrees, but the more time he spends around the homeless pups, the more he starts to realize that his own life in and out of foster homes just might parallel that of the sweet pups

My thoughts:

This is an absolutely great family holiday movie.  In fact a great movie to watch anytime. Especially if you have a love for animals and children.

In the beginning Jack gets himself into trouble, and when he is sent back to his probation officer, you learn that this isn't his first time.  Jack is also already in his ninth foster home with a couple and two other children.  And they also are not happy with his behavior.

When Jack receives his community service at the local animal shelter, that three young girls run,    things start to turn around for him.  But they soon find out that on Christmas Eve the shelter will be closing for good, and if the eleven dogs that are there aren't adopted out they will be sent to the local shelter, and most likely euthanized.  So Jack and Ryan team up on a mission to find these dogs homes in just two short weeks.

In the midst of all of this, Jack learns that his two foster brothers are being adopted out and his foster parents are moving to Arizona.

Jack and his Probation Officer become close, and I don't want to give any of this heartfelt story away. You will have to watch this movie.

DVD Review: Santa's Magic Toy Bag

Christmas is bustling, festive and exciting for Santa, Mrs. Claus and all the Elves at the North Pole... Sherman, an aspiring apprentice Elf, tries his best to fit in but can t seem to do anything right! He s worked in nearly every department at the North Pole and has triggered a series of disasters everywhere he goes. Santa tries to bolster Sherman s self-esteem by entrusting him with the special task of guarding his MAGIC TOY BAG until Christmas Eve. When Sherman accidentally shrinks the bag by washing it, he fears there might not be a Christmas this year ... Unless the accident-prone Elf can finally make things right!

My thoughts:

This is a cute short film.. Sherman is an apprentice elf, but he can't seem to do anything right.  From working in the mail room, and letters almost being destroyed to trying to cook candy canes.  He feels he just can't do anything.

Sherman has been given a special task from Santa of guarding his Magic Toy Bag.  It seems, that Sherman can't even do that right. And now he has to figure out how to make everything okay.

The characters in this film are puppet like.  My seven and ten year old enjoyed watching it, and asked to watch it a second time.

DVD Review : My Dad Is Scrooge

"A Christmas Carol" turns into "A Christmas Corral" as the animals of Woodsley's Farm help Oliver and his little sister June stage the classic tale to shock their Dad into embracing the spirit of the holidays

My thoughts:

EB is quite the Scrooge!  And he proves that by serving the owners of the Woodsley Farm a foreclosure notice, without warning.

This story takes a funny turn when the farm animals wake up EB's son, Oliver.  Talking! Yes, talking farm animals.  So in the midst of Oliver and June, EB's son and daughter, getting ready for their mom's Christmas show, they are both also helping the farm animals get their farm back.

The things that the animals and kids do in this film with make your laugh, and hope that this story has a happy ending, and that families will be brought  back together.  The things these animals and kids due to EB will have you laughing till the end.

This is a great movie for the whole family to watch. We have actually watched it three times already. And I am quite certain, we will be watching it numerous times more. Children of all ages, as well as adults will love this movie, and will want to add it to their movie library.

My Thoughts
When this DVD arrived, my seven and ten year old children looked at it and had no interest in watching this.  They saw how excited I was and thought because I watched these shows that they were for "old people", as they put it.  I made them sit and watch this DVD with me, and they loved it.  They even asked if we could watch it again.  It was fun to sit and laugh at the shows I used to watch with my kids.

This DVD is packed with loads of laughs.  I especially liked the Episode of Married With Children when the Grim Reaper showed up to visit Al dressed up as the Village People.  I haven't seen so many of these shows for many years, and it was such a delight to see the Halloween Episodes. I forgot how funny Roseanne is. The Cosby Show was a great one also, but the Halloween episode on this DVD  is a must see.    I can see my family sitting every Halloween Season to watch this.

Anyone who is in their forty's will remember all of these shows, and should add this DVD to their home library.
