Bernie The Dolphin on DVD

Kevin and Holly love splashing and playing with their dolphin friend Bernie and his family. But when Bernie goes missing, the kids go looking for him. While searching, they discover a real-estate development plan that threatens the baby sea turtles on their favorite beach. My Thoughts 

In Bernie the Dolphin, a brother and sister befriend an adorable dolphin named Bernie. After a while, Bernie disappears and the kids decide they have to find him. Their search leads them to discover that the habitat of their friend is in danger. A real estate company wants to destroy the beach that is not only home to Bernie but also baby sea turtles. The kids come up with a plan to stop the development and save the sea creatures who mean so much to them.

Dolphins are my daughter's spirit animal, so she was super excited to watch this film. She loved all the scenes with the kids playing the dolphin. Mom loved the scenes that included Kevin Sorbo. I was always a huge fan of Hercules the Legendary Journeys, and I enjoyed having this Greek demi-god grace my screen again. I also enjoyed the call to action and how people fought to protect the wildlife in our oceans. I wish more people would do that in real life.

My Thoughts

Treasure Hounds is an adorable movie about a dog who takes his family on a hunt for lost treasure. In this movie, Jack inherits a home from his grandfather which comes complete with a talking dog named Skipper. Jack learns that his grandmother hid a treasure that is worth a small fortune. He makes friends with some of the other neighborhood kids,and Skipper leads them on an adventure to find the gold. However, there are some thieves who learned about the treasure too, and the kids will need to outwit them to get to it first.

My kids always love movies with animals in them, especially dogs.  This one was lots of  fun because of the exciting adventure the dog and his human friends were led on. It's like a combination of India Jones and Air Bud with a little Home Alone mixed in when the kids are outmaneuvering the bad guys. The story-line is a little predictable, but will be a lot of fun for younger viewers. There is no serious violence, but lots of laughs and a little intrigue. This is a great choice for a family film on family movie night.  It's a flick the whole family is sure to enjoy.

EVERYBODY LOVES SOMEBODY arrives on DVD, Digital HD and On Demand June 20

My Thought

In Everybody Loves Somebody, Clara has a problem. She has to go back home for a wedding, but she's not looking forward to seeing her family. As a successful doctor, her job has been her main priority, and it has left little time for romance. She knows her nosy family will nag her about her single lifestyle, so she asks a co-worker to be her date and pretend they are in a relationship. Some sparks actually fly between them, but then Clara runs into her own boyfriend and things heat up there too. Now Clara has to choose between the two guys, and everyone in her family has an opinion about which one is right for her.

This was a really cute film, though perhaps a little predictable. While I'm usually not a huge fan of love triangles, the humor in this one makes it well worth the watch. The actors all did a great job. It's a fast faced comedy that will make you laugh out loud,  but there are definitely some sweet, romantic moments as well. Definitely a recommended flick for romance lovers. 

DVD Review: Shaun the Sheep Animal Antics

My Thoughts

My children simply love Shaun the Sheep and this adorable DVD was no different. This DVD set features seven amazing episodes all about zany animals.  Some highlights include Shaun taking on a cunning fox whose whose causing trouble on the farm, the sheep trying to sell everything on the farm, and Bitzer getting jazzy. Shaun the Sheep' and all his escapades were definitely a big hit in my household. The characters are fun and colorful, and Shaun never loses any of his silent charm. This is a great family show that's perfect to watch on family movie night. The whole DVD runs about an hour between the main feature and bonus feature which include the "Building a Pig" video and Timmy's Tune music video. Anyone who is a fan of the show will want this DVD set in their collection.

My Thoughts


Journey to Bear Kingdom is the next chapter of the Alpha & Omega series. This time around, the wolf pups befriend a family of bears. But these are no ordinary bears. They are the royalty of the forest. However, their reign is in peril. The evil Rogue Wolves are threatening this peaceful kingdom, but the wolf pups are ready to help. They step up and defend the princess and the queen of the bears and help restore peace to the forest.


I have loved these characters from the get-go and was thrilled to see them come back for another film. I also enjoyed seeing  Kate and Humphrey with a family of their own and my son loved the bear family. All their other forest friends were amazing as well.  My children enjoyed the movie even more than I did, and this is sure to become one of our favorite movies to watch throughout the upcoming summer break..

ARCTIC ADVENTURE: ON FROZEN POND

My Thoughts

Arctic Adventure: On Frozen Pond is a magical tale of warrior frogs who live on a magical pond. The pond is guarded by a magical artifact known as the Crystal Frog. When it's stolen by the evil One-Eye, the pond is thrown into chaos. The princess of the frogs and her group of friends head out on a quest to find the artifact and save their home.

This was a really cute movie with an original story line. So many movies today are retellings, and those are fun too, but this was new and refreshing. My children loved watching the cute little frogs as they journeyed into an icy world to save their pond. It's a fun adventure with plenty of funny moments and characters that will win your heart.

My Thoughts

My kids love movies with animals, so I was sure that Robo-Dog:Airborne would be a big hit with them. This story centers around a boy named Tyler. His father is a genius and he created him a dog that isn't like any other. He might be a robot, but he's till Tyler's best friend. Things are going great until Robo-Dog disappears at a science fair. His memory get wiped out, but he's rescued by a little girl and her IT guy father. They fall in love with Robo-Dog too, but want to do the right thing and find his owners, especially after they realize just how special he is.

Robo-Dog is a sweet movie with endearing characters and a interesting story-line. My teen kids said he was like the Inspector Gadget of dogs.  Both the animals and the humans did a great job in their roles, and the settings were very realistic. This is a an adorable movie and a great choice for family movie night. My daughter has watched it three times already and can't wait to see it again. Grab a copy for yourself on Amazon.

My Thoughts 

Air Bound is the story of two little mice named Gavin and Matthew. They are city mice, but they want to go on an adventure, so they stow away on a ship. They make their way to Dream Island where they find themselves battling a group of mean Weasels. With a little  help from the neighborhood seagulls, they mount a force that gives the Weasels a run for their money. But will it be enough to save their friends?

This was such a cute movie. Mice and birds teaming up is a pretty cool idea. The 3D slip cover is awesome too!  My older kids thought it was pretty cool how you-tube stars did the voices of so many of the characters. The story was engaging and exciting, but didn't have much violence. This is a fun movie the whole family can enjoy on family movie night. In addition to the full length feature, the set also includes four episodes of "Minuscule", making this DVD an even better deal! Lots of great family-friendly content! My Thoughts

My children simply love Shaun the Sheep and this adorable featurette was no different. The Farmer and Bitzer are going to the fair and Shaun decides he wants to go along for the ride. He befriends a trio of llamas and wants to bring them back with him to the farm. Things start out fine, but apparently llamas are pretty serious  party animals and Shaun soon loses control of the farm.

My Thoughts 

There's something about a Nicholas Sparks movie that makes them impossible to pass by. Even though romance is usually not my favorite genre, his stories always have a touching story line that speaks to me. The movie adaptions are always just as awesome as the books. In The Choice, Travis is a bachelor who falls hard for his neighbor and for the first time in his life, he's considering settling down. Gabby is focused on getting her medical degree, but eventually warms up to Gary's advances even though she's already in a relationship. Eventually, as the title implies, they are faced with a choice. The decisions they make will determine whether or not their love can survive. 

To go along with the DVD, my family also got the chance to make an awesome wind chime. It came with some lovely sea glass and we added a few crystals for good measure. The constant clink of the chimes is a magical reminder of the movie and a fun craft that my girls and I really enjoyed for Mother's Day.

My Thoughts

Norm of the North is an adorable movie that centers around a lovable polar bear named Norm. Along the way, they have lots of adventures and get into more than one scrape.

Though some of the animation, especially the humans, could've been better, this is still one of the cutest movies I've seen in a long time. My son is especially fond of bears, so he really loved it. The animals are endearing characters and there is humor that both kids and adults can appreciate. And not only is it a fun film, it also has a strong message about the enviroment and working to preserve animal habitats.  It's the perfect choice for family movie night.
