NATURE: Sharks of Hawaii DVD

With some 40 species of shark calling Hawaii's waters home, scientists are seeing new animal behavior around every corner. Hopping from island to island, uncover surprising moments of cooperation, rarely seen hunting tactics and striking insights into these predators. Meet the Whitetip reef shark, Whale shark, Tiger shark and more through the lens of remote sensor cameras and drone technology.

Under the waves and tropical sun, each of Hawaii's Volcanic Islands host a unique ocean landscape teeming with biodiversity. But one predator reigns supreme – the shark. With 40 species of shark calling these warm waters home, scientists are seeing new animal behavior around every corner. Whitetip reef sharks "sleep" in tight volcanic tunnels, while in the Deep Water, everything is on the menu for the hunting Tiger shark, from birds to Humpback whales.

My Thoughts

PBS l has always been one of my favorite stations. Their educational series are fun and exciting for kids and parents alike.  My son has recently become obsessed with sharks, partially because his dad let him watch "Jaws" and partially because we live at the shore and he loves to surf. So he was definitely excited to have the chance to watch Sharks of Hawaii. This documentary brings you the real life drama of the underwater world. The DVD provides hours of nail biting entertainment.

This season one of the highlights is getting to meet forty different species of sharks in Hawaii. You get to see them in their natural habitat and also enjoy the beautiful scenery of Hawaii.  If you are interested in purchasing this exciting DVD for yourself, it is available in retailers nationwide.  You can also find it online on PBS.org on Amazon.
