Frankie Drake Mysteries: The Complete Fourth Season

Season Four opens with our intrepid detectives Frankie Drake (Lauren Lee Smith) and Trudy Clarke (Chantel Riley) and their best gal pals, Mary Shaw (Rebecca Liddiard) and Flo Chakowitz (Sharron Matthews), traipsing through the woods on a scavenger hunt that quickly turns deadly.

From the wilderness to the world of high society, from an underground cabaret to a candy factory, Frankie and Trudy investigate murders, kidnappings, heists and poisonings. Using her position as a morality officer, Mary is able to snoop through police files and be privy to non-civilian discussions, while Flo lends a hand with autopsy reports, science experiments, and her newly acquired medical skills.

As always, amid high-stakes danger, excitement, intrigue and friendship, the women find their balance in their lives outside of work. Frankie has a European race car-driving beau; Trudy's dreams of home-sweet-home are closer than ever; Mary falls for the wrong fella; and Flo starts a family.

My Thoughts

Frankie Drake is a fun crime series set in Canada in the 1920s. It centers around a female sleuth name Frankie and her friend Trudy. The pair of private detective give both the criminals and the cops a run for their money. Season Three includes 10 exciting episodes.

1- A scavenger hunt leads to murder.

2- The girls help locate an kidnaped prince.

3- The girls stumble into an illegal auction.

4- The girls try to prove a fencer didn't kill their coach.

5-When someone sees a ghost, it leads to a shocking discovery.

6-When a suspected killer is acquitted, the girls must prove he's guilty.

7-Frankie witnesses a murder and it leads her to a secret cabaret.

8-When Trudy moves into a house with tainted water, she decides to discover the source.

9-A dance troupe might've brought the Spanish flue to town.

10-The seasons wraps up with lots of trauma including family struggles and one of the ladies deciding to leave the business.

This series is filled with tons of great mysteries without a lot of violence. One of my favorite aspects of the series if how Frankie and Trudy overcome the common racial prejudices of the time period and have such a great relationship. If you'd like to grab a copy of this awesome DVD for yourself, you can find it in stores nationwide or online at PBS.org or Amazon.
