My Thoughts

A Suitable Boy is a fun romantic comedy based off the best-selling novel by Vikram Seth. It centers around a literary student named Lata who isn't sure marriage is the right choice for her. Set in 1950s India, it a tale of newfound independence for both Lata and her county. This first season includes fix episodes.

1- While Lata is involved in her studies, her mother arranges a marriage for her sister. Now her mother wants to find a suitable man for her, but Lata isn't ready to give up her freedom.

2- Lata is dating a fellow student on the sly because she knows her mother wouldn't approve.

3- Lata's mother enlists the help of a friend to find a good husband when she discovers Lata has been spending time is a poet.

4- Competition is mounting for Lata's  hand, and she is even more confused when she received a romantic gift.

5- A confusing holiday and a hectic election leave Lata even more confused about her feelings.

6 - Bad press complicates matter for Lata and her family.

I really enjoyed this series. It was interesting learning more about the culture of India while also enjoying a fun romantic comedy. I hope it continues for another season. If you want to grab a copy of this DVD for yourself, you can find a copy in stores nationwide or online at Amazon.
