Acorn TV features the DVD debut of the new heartwarming BBC family drama and Acorn TV Original Series PITCHING IN on September 24, 2019. Pitching In stars beloved British actor Larry Lamb (New Tricks, EastEnders, Gavin & Stacey, Murphy’s Law) as Frank Hardcastle, a man who runs a holiday park on the idyllic North Wales coast and finds his peace and quiet disrupted when his flighty daughter (Caroline Sheen) and grandson move back home. On the scenic and serene north Wales coast, the residents of Daffodil Dunes are content with their cozy, if somewhat outdated, camping-park community. Then owner Frank makes the surprising announcement that he plans to sell the park and retire. But when his strong-willed daughter, Carys, returns home for the first time since her mother’s death 18 months ago, she attempts to change his mind.

Carys plans events from medieval reenactments to fitness retreats to draw new visitors and increase income. But she may be in over her head as she contends with her disgruntled teenage son, her ex-fiancé’s new girlfriend, and another woman in her father’s life: enticing estate agent Iona (Hayley Mills), who has her own plans for Daffodil Dunes—and for Frank himself—in this endearing family drama.

My Thoughts


Pitching In is a drama series set in north Wales. It centers around a woman named Carys whose family owns a mobile home park. Her father wants to sell the family business, but Carys wants to find new and innovative ways to bring in a crowd. However, she has multiple family members, her ex, and a real-estate tycoon who wants to circumvent her plans. This season has four episodes. 

1-  Frank announces at this birthday party that he plans to sell the park.  His daughter Carys returns home in the hopes of changing his mind.

2- Iona, the real estate agent uses her feminine wiles to try to convince Frank to take her offer.  Carys tries her hand at reenactments.  

3- Carys yoga camp goes well and she also tries her hand a a survival event, but her fitness expert is a little over the top. Frank is tempted to give into Iona and Carys' son is not happy about starting at a new school.

4- Iona increased her offer, but Carys is distracted by her husband showing up. Danny wants to propose to Tanya.
Pitching In is a touching family drama with a few humorous moments along the way. One of my favorite parts of this series was getting to see Hallie Mills. I  have been a fan all my life and used to watch her old films like Pollyana and The Parent Trap over and and over when I was a kid.
