This raucous drama tells the true story of New Zealand’s most controversial lawyer, Mike Bungay. After overcoming a miserable upbringing, Bungay decides to go to law school based on the results of a coin toss. In a high-profile career that begins in the 1960s and spans decades, he makes enemies of fellow lawyers and clients alike with his unconventional methods and his penchant for fast cars, married women, and whisky. Successfully defending alleged murderers, spies, and gang members with his own brand of justice earns him notoriety—and the occasional slap in the face. But no matter how many legal victories he wins, Bungay can’t quit his self-destructive habits and escape his own inner demons.

My Thoughts
Dear Murderer is an exciting series inspired by actual events. It centers around a New Zealand attorney named Mike Bungay. He works in the 1960s and takes on controversial cases including murderers and spies. This first season includes five exciting episodes.
A Good Toss To Loose- Mike decides to become a lawyer based on a coin toss. He gains success but makes enemies..
I Spy - Mike is having marital issues, and takes on a case involving a spy.
Dog Days - Mike defends a gynecologist accused of rape, which gets the feminists upset.
Family Matters - Mike defends a gang, but has trouble getting them to tell the same story. He also gets involved in politics after writing a book.
Three's a Crowd - Mike has a client who was in a room with another suspect during a murder. They both claim the other did the deed. He also has his sights set on a married woman.
I really enjoyed this series. Each episode was like mini movie. The fact that its based on real events makes it even more interesting. Sometimes truth in stranger than fiction. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in Series 2. You can grab a copy of this DVD set for yourself on Acorn Media or on Amazon.
