We’re quickly approaching the most glorious time of the year for basketball fans. Buzzer-beaters, shocking upsets, Cinderella stories and non-stop games for hours on end. Yes, we’re talking about the NCAA tournament.
This weekend kicks off the tournament with the announcement of participating teams, and the first round of games will follow shortly. This means it’s time to start preparing for all the action.
Stressed about which game you’re going to watch when multiple air at once? Worried you’re going to miss a game-winning shot while flipping back and forth between channels? Sit back and relax because DISH has your back.
During the tournament, DISH is offering the below suite of features that make it easier than ever to stay up-to-date on all the games this March.
DISH Anywhere®: It can be tough to catch every moment of the tournament, especially during the first and second rounds when games air all day long. DISH Anywhere gives you the ability to watch 100 percent of your live and recorded content from a mobile device, so you can tune into the tournament virtually anywhere – whether you’re at work, school or traveling. You can also use the app to record games ahead of time so you can watch them later at home. DISH Anywhere app use requires an Internet-connected Hopper 2 or Hopper 3, or a first-generation Hopper connected to a Sling Adapter.
Sports Bar Mode: With the March NCAA tournament airing across four channels, DISH’s Sports Bar Mode, also known as MultiView, is a useful tool for watching multiple games airing simultaneously. Available on Hopper 3, Sports Bar Mode is a multi-channel view that divides a 4K or HDTV screen into quadrants, each with the ability to display a different program. You can easily toggle among the four channels to determine which will play audio. Use Sports Bar Mode to watch up to four games at once, particularly during the first and second rounds, so you never miss a big moment of the tournament.
To launch Sports Bar Mode, click the “Options” button on your remote, select “Picture in Picture” and then “MultiView.”
College Sports Multi-Channel View: While Sports Bar Mode is only available on Hopper 3, you can still watch multiple games at once with DISH’s College Sports Multi-Channel View. Available on channel 151 in the programming guide on all Hoppers and Joey clients, this view showcases up to four pre-selected channels on one TV screen. If you have a VIP receiver, you’ll find a similar mosaic of six networks on channel 100.
Bracket View: Follow the NCAA tournament with DISH’s Bracket View, an app that populates an interactive bracket with upcoming, live and completed games. You can navigate games in all four regions – Midwest, East, West and South – so it’s easy to find and tune to live games or set scheduled games to record. Bracket View also displays real-time scores and game stats, including points per game leader, field goal percentage and 3-point field percentage. The best part is that you can check out this app without exiting a game you’re watching – it will continue to play in the top right corner of your TV screen. Find Bracket View in the apps menu or on channel 147.
Game Finder: DISH’s Game Finder app gives you access to all your favorite teams. It helps you find current and upcoming games and lets you easily schedule recordings and reminders. Game Finder also incorporates data from Thuuz to rate the most exciting games so you’ll always know which tournament games are heating up. Check out Game Finder in the apps menu or on channel 152.
