AGATHA CHRISTIE’S MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

Coinciding with the Nov. 10 Fox release of the new, star-studded theatrical adaptation of The Murder on the Orient Express directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh, Acorn, an RLJ Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand, is re-releasing the extravagant television adaptation of the Queen of Crime’s most famous novel, AGATHA CHRISTIE’S MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS on DVD on November 14, 2017. Featuring fan-favorite David Suchet as Hercule Poirot – the Belgian sleuth of unsurpassed deductive powers and peerless viewer appeal – as he searches for a killer on a snowbound train, the DVD 1-Disc includes the television film ($19.99, Amazon.com). Murder on the Orient Express debuted in July 2010 on PBS’s Masterpiece Mystery! and is available to stream on Acorn TV. In 2012, RLJ Entertainment, Inc. became the first U.S. company to own a majority share in Agatha Christie Limited, which manages her timeless and impressive literary estate and iconic characters.

While traveling on the luxurious Orient Express, Hercule Poirot meets Samuel Ratchett (Toby JonesDetectorists), an unsavory businessman who fears for his life. Not caring for the man or his money, Poirot declines his demand for professional protection. But when Ratchett is stabbed to death, the detective is determined to find the culprit. Did an assassin sneak aboard in the night—or is there a killer hiding on the snowbound train?

The suspects include a meek governess (two-time Oscar® nominee Jessica ChastainZero Dark Thirty), the dead man’s servant (Hugh BonnevilleDownton Abbey), an imperious princess (Eileen AtkinsThe Crown), an army colonel (David MorrisseyThe Walking Dead), and a pushy American (Barbara HersheyHannah and Her Sisters). As Poirot sorts through the conflicting clues, what he discovers may shake him to his core.

Sinister and foreboding, Agatha Christie’s quintessential murder mystery is brought to life by an all-star cast and explores the nature of justice and the limits of the law.

My Thoughts

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS is the television adaption of Agatha Christie's classic novel. In this show, a train gets stuck in a snowstorm, and a gruesome murder takes place. There are many interesting people on board including a governess, a princess, and a military man. Any one off could be the guilty party. Only celebrated Detective Poirot can find the killer on board a train filled with rich foreigners and royalty. Luckily, he happens to be on board as a passenger. He puts his skills to good use, and before the train reaches it's destination, the killer will be revealed.

With great acting, awesome scenery, and a mystery that keeps you guessing, this movie is a must-watch. There's a lot of hype about the new version that is hitting theaters, but David Suchet will always be my favorite Poirot.  You can order AGATHA CHRISTIE’S MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS on DVD for only $19.99 at Acorn Media or grab a copy of Amazon.
