SURF'S UP 2: WAVEMANIA

Cody Maverick, hungry for a new challenge, convinces an infamous big wave riding crew known as The Hang 5, voiced by WWE Superstars John Cena®, Undertaker®, Triple H®, Paige™ and Mr. McMahon® to let him join them on their journey to a mysterious surf spot known as The Trenches, where legend has it, they'll find the biggest waves in the world. Cody soon discovers that the life he left behind might be more heroic than what any death-defying wave has to offer. 

Directed by Henry Yu, SURF’S UP 2: WAVEMANIA is based on a screenplay by Abdul Williams. 
The film is a co-financed production between Sony Pictures Animation and WWE Studios, and is produced by Michelle L.M. Wong and executive produced by Michael Luisi. 


My Thoughts


Surf's Up 2 brings back the adorable penguin Cody. He's living his dream at a surf shop, but he's starting to get a little bored. That all changes when a group of daredevil surfers come to town, one of which is played by John Cena.  He talks the group into letting him tag along to Slaughter Island where they hope to catch the biggest wave in the world. Along the way, he learns there are important things than risking his life.

This is definitely a cute movie, and a great sequel. My kids enjoyed all the zany characters. Since we live in a seashore town, we also really related to the surf lingo! Most sequels aren't as good as the original, but this one lived up to my expectations. It was funny, and had an original story line. I even found myself chuckling with my kids a few times!
