My Thoughts

Bee Helpful is an adorable story about a little bee named Sunny and his friend the sunflower named Myah. When Myah is wilting because she has no water, Sunny sets out to help her. He tries to carry water back from the lake, but he's not big enough. He asks his bee friends to help and then a frog, but they only laugh at him. A turtle wants to help, but he moves too slow to make it in time. Finally, Sunny turns to the Great Oak, an ancient tree in the service of Mother Nature. He asks for Mother Nature to make water, but the Great Oak tells him he can't interfere. Sunny refuses to give up and eventually the Great Oak is so moved by his love for his friend, he tells Sunny he will ask Mother Nature to make it rain.  All should be well, but the road back to Myah is wrought with danger. He runs into a tree and is stalked by a spider. Will the rain come in time to save Myah and even if it does, will Sunny get back to her in one piece?

Bee Helpful is a wonderful children's book with beautiful illustrations. The story is fast-paced and fun and the characters are endearing. I especially loved the inclusion of Mother Nature and the wise old oak as this resonates with my earth-based spiritual path. My children all enjoyed the story. As stated in the description it's perfect for kids ages 4-8.
