 Our Thoughts

My son isn't a big reader, but Horrid Henry is actually a book he picked up and read last year. Not only did he read it, he loved it. He was ecstatic when I told him they were making it into a movie.  The story revolves around Henry, a little boy who has a tendancy to get into trouble. Set in England, Horrid Henry follows a crazy trouble making kid through all his rambunctious adventures. You'll meet his rather large family and watch him join forces with his nerdy neighbor Moody Margaret. The two become unlikely allies in a battle to win the talent show and help save their school.

This movie was so much fun to watch. It has a little of everything. Of course there is tons of  slap stick humor, but it also teaches kids about the bonds of  friendship and to never give up on their dreams. There's music, surprises, and a whole lot of laughs.  On my end, I was excited to see Angelica Huston was a member of the cast. She was always been on of my favorite actresses. She plays Henry's spinster teacher and she brings humor to the screen that the parents will appreciate as well as the kids.

I think Phase 4 Films did an amazing  job with their movie adapation. So many times a movie isn't as much fun as the book, but it this case, it was even better. My son loved seeing real faces of the characters he has grown to love. To make the DVD even more fun, the package at Walmart will come complete with s sampling of Henry's signature slime. My children and I all enjoyed watching this film together. It's a great choice for family movie night. We give Horrid Henry five stars all the way!
