Holiday Gift Guide - World Vision Gift Catalog Review & Giveaway

This holiday season, let the scarf around your neck, the ornaments on your tree, or the wooden serving spoons on your table be conversation starters. What’s the topic? Children and families in impoverished communities and solving the challenges they are facing, such as access to food, clean water, education, and more.

How can a clothing accessory or table decoration contribute to this dialog? When gift-givers make a holiday donation through World Vision’s Maximum Impact Fund, the gift is used where it’s most needed, tackling some of the world’s greatest challenges. With a donation of $25 or more the donor receives a free gift (a few listed below) to wear, carry, use or give to a loved one.  Most of the Maximum Impact Fund items available in the catalog are made by micro-enterprising artisans around the world and the sale proceeds directly benefit their communities.

As you develop your holiday gift guide or blog post, please consider the unique, life-changing items from the World Vision Gift Catalog. Below you will find a selection of gifts we can offer in exchange for a review on your blog.

  • Tie the beautiful beaded ornaments to napkin rings as a vivid tabletop decoration. The set includes three handmade Zakale wire and bead ornaments from Nairobi. Meaning "reuse," Zakale crafts are made from recycled materials by a group of Kenyan artisans reclaiming their own lives from poverty.
  • Dish up a holiday salad with unique hand-carved serving spoons made with care to benefit orphans in Kenya.
  • Accessorize for a holiday party with a silk scarf from the coast of Thailand. After the harvest season, the women of Thailand’s Surin Province put down the farming tools and take up the loom to hand-wove the beautiful Sabai scarves.
  • The BPA-Free 16 oz. eco cold cup comes in handy when on the run. Every sip is a reminder of those who’ve been helped.

 Our Thoughts

I love the Boho style for my clothing and I am never without a trendy scarf this time of year. I enjoy collecting beautiful decorative pieces from all over the world to make my wardrobe truly unique. But its important that those pieces are obtained fairly and that the men and woman creating such beautiful artwork receive a good price. Not that I don't love a good bargain, but not at the expense of someone's livelihood. At World Vision they specialize in beautiful, fair trade accessories. All of their items are hand loomed and naturally plant dyed,  giving you a unique piece you can be proud to add to your wardrobe.

For my review, I received one of their lovely fair trade scarves. The colors are rich and vibrant and are the perfect way to accentuate any wardrobe choice. It is made from all natural materials which is woven into a fine thread, making it light as a feather but still warm and cozy. It is the perfect way to dress up your attire, but its also simple enough for a casual stroll. They would definitely make a fun and unique gift this holiday season. The best part of this gift is knowing that the money that was spent will be going to help underprivileged children around the world!
