HolidayGift Guide - Laurie Berkner's Favorite Classic Kids' Songs

Product was received for free in exchange for an honest review.

The legendary Laurie Berkner — crowned "the queen of children's music" by People Magazine — will release her tenth album in late October.  Laurie Berkner's Favorite Classic Kids' Songs will be a two-disc set including 51 well-loved, traditional children's songs, plus six "bonus" tracks of favorite Laurie Berkner originals.

Says Laurie, “I grew up with many of these songs, and I’m sure parents and grandparents will remember a lot of them from their own childhoods.  I’m excited about sharing these classics with kids who may not have heard them before and also introducing my versions of songs that might already be family favorites.  In the true folk tradition, I’ve added some of my own lyrics and my own spin to many of these traditional songs.  I’ve kept a folk or rock feel for most of the numbers, with a little reggae thrown in here and there for fun!”

My Thoughts

I have been listening to Laurie Berkner with my kids since she was came out with her music.  We love all of her songs.  although my kids are now eleven and eight, they still like her songs.  And we do sing along together to her songs. I  am a stay at home mom, and I have an in home daycare so I get to play this CD set very often.

This two CD disk set is loaded with songs! Disc number has twenty five songs, plus an additional three bonus songs, and disk number two has twenty six songs plus an additional three bonus songs. No matter what your age, young or old, you are sure to enjoy listening Laurie Berkner.

My thoughts:

My eight year old son absolutely loves this CD.  It has all the hits, but only with kids singing it.  I even enjoy singing along when my son plays this.  Which he plays numerous times throughout the day.  I like that since it is a kid version, there aren't any words that aren't kid appropriate as the real version sang by original artists sometimes has words throughout their songs that aren't kid appropriate.  This CD is definitely a five star rating .

My Thoughts

I listened to this soundtrack with my children. They've gotten to the age when in the car they request for me to change to their station. Which isn't a bad thing since it gives me a chance to see what they prefer to listen to. I was familiar with almost every song on this disk.

The nice thing about the kids who since the hit songs, are they are clean. Such as in Up Town Funk, the word liquor isn't used. Instead, kids are hearing alternate words.

I think the singers did a great job with each song. If I didn't know I was listening to this disk, I might have thought they were the same singers I'd heard on the radio. This gets a big mom's thumb up.

My children also enjoyed it. They thought it was a little strange at first hearing someone else sing their songs, but soon I found them listening to this CD over the radio station. My kids give this a thumbs up too!

Review: Daycare Dance Party CD

“Daycare Dance Party” showcases a fictional preschool trio that sing about everything from washing hands to juice boxes. Charles Fulp, a song writer/producer with singles that have appeared on the charts of Billboard, MusicRow and DJ Times magazines produced the CD, and Grammy Award-winning engineer Gene Grimaldi mastered it. Preschool Popstars’ music videos, which were animation by director Rinat Gazizov (“Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2”), have attained millions of YouTube views – and the CD was just released on iTunes! youtube.com/preschoolpopstars

My thoughts:

This is a cute CD.  I run an in home daycare and the toddlers absolutely love this.  We listen and sign to it a couple times a day.  It is so much fun watching three toddlers pretend they are singing sensations and dance.    There are twelve fun songs on this CD.

We have a ritual everyday.  I play track number eight before lunch, "Wash your hands".  And after lunch we play track number ten and they get a kick out of this one, which is "I didn't mean to burp".  My seven year old gets a kick when I put this on and sign it with the kids.  Ten plus stars for this.
