Amy Poehler's UCB helps Launch Party Game Sculptapalooza

SculptaPalooza

EDUCATIONAL INSIGHTS® PARTNERS WITH AMY POEHLER’S UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE THEATRE TO LAUNCH HILARIOUS NEW PARTY GAME SCULPTAPALOOZA™ WITH ORIGINAL VIDEO CONTENT
Award-winning toy and game manufacturer Educational Insights® (EI) has partnered with Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre to create original content, including a commercial, webisode, and instructional video, in support of the launch of EI’s brand-new, laugh-out-loud party game, Sculptapalooza™.

Founded by comedic giants Amy Poehler, Matt Walsh, Ian Roberts, and Matt Besser, Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) is considered the proving ground for the best and brightest talents in the comedy industry. A crew of UCB performers were the perfect partners to spread the word about the most hilarious and totally out-of-control party game of all – Sculptapalooza – and the results are as straight-up hilarious as the game.
The first-ever party game for grown-ups from Educational Insights, Sculptapalooza is designed for four or more players, offers a squishy new twist on traditional party games, and challenges players to sculpt whatever’s shown on the cards they draw using squishy, squashy Playfoam® (included).  As players race against the clock to sculpt and guess in categories like Straight Up Sculpt, Put It on Your Face, Just Close Your Eyes, Playfoam Props, and Sculptor’s Choice, Sculptapalooza takes grown-up game night to the next level.

As part of the partnership, performers from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre hit the streets of New York City to play the game with unsuspecting men and women around town. Even notoriously tough New Yorkers couldn’t keep it together when the comedians challenged them to a round of Sculptapalooza. The webisode includes candid footage of unsuspecting, unscripted New Yorkers busting a gut to the over-the-top antics of the comedy crew.

My Thoughts

Okay so think Charades, but on a whole different scale. It is pretty much the same basic concept as Charades. You are making sculptures out of a foam that is included with the game. Which by the way, does not smell or leave a weird residue. Honestly the foam is pretty spectacular. I wouldn't recommend it for small small children, because it is a bunch of tiny foam beads that make up the sculpting foam. You are racing the clock to sculpt as many foam figures as possible and for your team to guess right. Think what you would sculpt for Harry Potter. Things like that. This game can make you pee your pants. There are different categories to the play. They are Straight Up Sculpt, Put It on Your Face, Just Close Your Eyes, Playfoam Props, and Sculptor’s Choice. I found Put It on Your Face and Just Close Your Eyes to be exceptionally difficult, but also equally comical.
The first time I played with my friends we lost track of the score and were just playing for fun. It got pretty comical. We just played until we got tired. This is a great first adult game from Educational Insights. They definitely got it right, right out of the gate. Even the directions were comical to read. And for the people that do play this game.... I so am that person with the directions. Definitely do not be afraid to make up your own clues, because I am not going to lie sometimes their's are hard. I just wish they had an option on their site to order more foam. Eventually dog hair or other things are going to get stuck in it. I would like to be able to order more. Definitely a wide array of ages can enjoy this game.

Educational Insights Spring #Giveaway

Spring may have just started, but before we know it, the kids will be out of school and we'll be looking for ways to keep them occupied. Educational Insights has tons of fun games and toys to help make your summer run smoothly. Here are a few of our top picks.

Discover amazing, up-close lunar exploration with GeoSafari® Jr. My First Telescope! Little ones can explore the moon with this focus-free telescope, built specifically for little hands and growing minds. Perfect for STEM learning. The 10x magnification provides fantastic views of the moon, while keeping the field of vision wide, which is essential for young children’s understanding of magnified views.

My Thoughts

This telescope is a wonderful way to get your kids outside. First of all, the assembly is very simple. You only have to attach the telescope to the base. This screws right in. You won't need any tools. Once set up, I found the telescope to be much more powerful than I expected.   We were able to get an excellent view of the moon and see the detail of the craters. The stars were much more visible as well, and I was able to point out a few of the constellations. What I really liked about this telescope is that the part you look through is more like binoculars. This is much easier for younger children who can have trouble trying to close one eye to look through a standard telescope. Overall, a great toy that works almost as well as the real one I have! Now we can look at the stars together.

Become Cinderella for a day! Players take turns flicking the Magical Wand Shaker and placing matching colored tokens on their castle cards. The first to fill her castle with tokens wins the game AND the “glass” slipper!

My Thoughts

The object of this game is to gather all the Cinderella tokens and transform them into princess tokens. You achieve this by rolling the dice and getting the colors that correspond to the pieces. The first time you get the color, you can to add a token, such a the mice, old dress, or pumpkin, to your board. The second time, you can flip it over and magically transform it into a horse, gown, or carriage. If you roll a fairy godmother, you can take any piece you need, but if you roll a clock you have to put one piece back. The first one to get all the pieces transformed wins the glass slipper.  My daughter really loved this game. It's fast-paced, fun, and makes her feel like a princess. She especially loves rolling the dice with the beautiful wand shaker!

Find and feed hungry puppies! Players shake the Dog Bowl Randomizer to find out which pup to feed, then scan the board for the pup with matching colors. The player who finds the matching pup first feeds it a bone. The first player to give away all bones first wins!

My Thoughts

This is a cute game that is fun for very young children. It would be a great choice for pre-schoolers.  The game comes with a board, bone pieces, and a randomizer. You shake the randomizer  and it will land on two colors. One is the color of the dog, and the other is the color of the collar. The first person to find the dog on the board that matches gets to place one of their five bones down on it. Whoever feeds all five of their bones to the dogs first will be the winner. It's a fast-paced game and a great way for children to learn their colors.

Perfect for pretend play and artistic expression, these ready-to-write-and-draw versions of our best-selling Rainbow Prancers™ feature felt-tip markers in bright, beautiful colors and flowing, multi-colored manes. Add a little magic to your next puppet show or coloring session!

My Thoughts

These are just too cute! My daughter had been asking for puppets, and since she loves unicorns, these were the perfect choice for her. There are three unicorns in the set--white, pink, and green.  There's a little lever on them that allows the mouth to open and close. If that's not exciting enough, these mini versions also have colored markers on the bottom of them!  So you get a toy and an art supply in one fun package!

Get ”in shape” with no-mess Playfoam®! Let little imaginations soar with this all-new, vehicle-themed, squishy-squashy set that can be shaped and sculpted over and over again.

My Thoughts

My kids just love Playfoam. It's just as much fun as colored dough,  but with a lot less mess. The pieces don't get stuck to your clothes, and it's a lot easier to separate the colors. This package comes with several different vehicles already assembled. There's a plane, car, and a few trucks.  My kids loved playing with these, but also enjoyed taking them apart to try new designs. This is a great starter set for anyone trying Playfoam for the first time.

Turn your home into the Shoemaker’s workshop! Read the story together; then, watch your little one’s creativity blossom with a full-color, double-sided shoe shop playset with seven ready-to-color characters and a shoe to decorate and lace!

My Thoughts

This is such a fun craft idea.  You get both a cute story and crafts all in one package. This set tells the story of the elves who help a poor shoemaker find fame.  It also includes several papers dolls that kids can decorate themselves. There is  a big shoe with a real tie that will help kids learn how to tie their laces.  This craft set makes for hours of entertainment and encourages storytelling.

The Twelve Dancing Princesses will dance their way into your little one’s heart! Read the story together; then, watch her creativity shine as YOUR princess colors five fun characters for use against a full-color storybook backdrop. Plus, she can create and decorate a mosaic dancing shoe and princess crown!

My Thoughts

This is another cute two in one combo set. The book tells the story of the twelve dancing princesses, sisters who sneak out each night to go dancing with their princes.  In addition to the book, you get beautiful paper dolls that kids can color to make them their own. There are also other crafts where kids can design their own shoes or princess crown. It's a wonderful way to spend a rainy day. Kids can create their own characters which really helps them get into the story and encourages them to read.

Educational Insights Valentine's Day #Giveaway

Looking for something better than candy to give to your children this Valentine's Day?  Educational Insights has tons of fun games and toys to keep them entertained.  Here are a few of our top picks.

Players take turns playing one of their game pieces. Connect your game piece to your previous one. If you can't move, you are out of the game. Last player to play a legal move is the winner. For 2 to 4 players. Ages 8+. Includes 88 Playing pieces (4 colors, 22 of each color), and game board 12" x 12".

My Thoughts

This is a really fun game and a great way for kids to learn strategy.  Simply set up each colored shark in the starting position. Every move, you'll need to connect another game piece to your color, but it can't be in the direction of where another shark is pointing. Once you can't make another move, you're out of the game.  This game is fast-paced and quick and easy to set up. It's perfect for kids eight and up and you can play with up to four players.

Blurt! Word race game by Educational Insights, This world-famous word game that has sold over 1,000,000 copies. After being sold by the original publisher, Blurt. has been off the market for several years. Now it's back and better than ever with a cool new look and the classic game play that made it a platinum best seller. Think fast. What word means '' a partially dried grape'' ? Be the first to say '' raisin,'' and you're on your way to winning this riotous game of rapid word recall. Players take turns reading clues aloud, competing to blurt out the correct answer first and move ahead on the board. The first person or team to circle the board wins. Sounds simple, right? But as the race for the right word heats up, and the blurting gets boisterous, it's easy to get tongue-tied. Blurt is a great vocabulary builder for kids, a hilarious addition to adult parties, and a must for family game night for 3 to 12 players.

My Thoughts

Blurt comes with the playing board, box of questions, and several colored game tokens. You have three players or up to twelve players.  The object of the game is to be the first to move your token all the way around the board. You achieve this by guessing the correct word on the cards. You are given a clue to what the word is, and then you get to "blurt" out whatever pops into your head. The first person to guess the correct word will win the points and get to move their token. I was surprised at how many my kids knew. And even when they guessed wrong it was hilarious to hear some of the things they came up with. By the end of the game, they had learned at least twenty new words and we all laughed so hard our sides hurt. Its a great way to have fun and still learn something.  This is an excellent games for kids and adults alike and would make an excellent gift.

Make learning fun with Educational Insights. Triple-rhyming family-friendly card game. For 3 or more players aged 10 to adult. Includes 600 questions and 2 levels. Race to shout 3 correct rhyming responses. Fun for the whole family, includes cards.

My Thoughts

Rhyme Out is a fun rhyming game suitable for kids and adults alike. There are 600 different questions which gives you thousands of ways to makes rhymes. How it works is that each card will give you clues to the rhyming words they're looking for. For example, a bird that lives in a pond, a deer with antlers, and a vehicle that hauls things. All three answers need to rhyme, so the answers are duck, buck, and truck.

This fun game is a great way for kids to grow their vocabulary.  It's a simple game without any complicated directions, and even the package doesn't take up much space. Anyone who enjoys a good word game is going to love this.
