The Heartwarming “Tail” of SGT. STUBBY

SGT. STUBBY shares the unbreakable bond between a young Soldier and a stray dog who, for his valorous feats, is still recognized today as the first dog promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Army, the most decorated dog in American history and is widely considered the forerunner to the U.S. Army's working dog program. Returning home to a hero's welcome, Stubby and Conroy toured the country leading victory parades and met three sitting U.S. presidents, among other honors.
Set against the backdrop of America's entry into World War I, this delightful, computer-animated feature shows the world that the greatest heroes can come from the unlikeliest of places.

My Thoughts
Sgt Stubby is the story of a little dog who follows a soldier back to boot camp after a parade. He goes through training with him, and later sneaks on the boat that takes him oversees to fight in WWII. Though at first they think Stubby will be a problem, he proves to be quite useful. He learns to warm the soldiers of danger, and even helps to save a whole town from a gas attack. Throughout it all, he stays loyal to his soldier, and comes home from the war a hero.
This was such a great movie, especially since it was inspired by actual events. I also liked how the movie teaches children some real history about WWII, though there are parts that are very emotional and might upset smaller children. It was a touching movie, and one that I enjoyed watching as much as the kids. We had to come home and research the real Stubby, which was even more fun. This is an awesome movie to watch with the whole family.
