I have fond memories of Saturday Morning Cartoons. After a
week of school, it was a treat to sit at home watching one cartoon after
another all Saturday morning.
I recently had a conversation with my husband about the
older tv times. Remember when we had to get up to change the channel. No
remote. We had to get up, turn the knob and adjust the wire antennae. Then we
happily sat all morning long watching our favorite cartoons.
This book “It’s Saturday Morning – Celebrating the Golden
Era of Cartoons” features the many shows we used to watch. The dates range from
the 1960s to the 1990s. This is a wonderful full color look back at four
decades of cartoons.
Do you remember your favorite cartoon?
Mine was Underdog with The Flintstones being a close second.
I can still sing the theme songs. The 1960s’ collection includes The Bugs Bunny
Show, The Jetsons, Jonny Quest and more. In the 70’s you will find Scooby-Doo,
Josie and the Pussycats, Tarzan, Fat Albert just to name a few. Jumping to the
80’s is the introduction of The Smurfs, He-Man, Transformers , Care Bears and another
of my faves – Thundercats! The 90’s brought us shows such as Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtles, Bobby’s World and a family favorite- Animaniacs!
Each cartoon is detailed with facts and full color photos.
The introduction is penned by none other than Howie Mandel who is the creator
and voice of Bobby’s World.
This tribute is sure to bring back memories! For those of us
who faithfully sat in front of the television, every Saturday morning, this
book is a joy to read. Share your fondest cartoon memories with your family.
