Save the Bees! Bees are very important to our food supply. They
are key in pollinating many of our fruits and vegetables. Most importantly,
they provide us with delicious honey.
Local Hive
from Rice’s Honey is sourced from actual local hives! Each location has a
unique honey flavor from the local area floral attributes. The flavors are
quite different from other areas of the US. Think about the difference in the landscapes
across the country and it makes sense that honey bees would produce different
honeys!
Local Hive was kind enough to send two of my local area honey
flavors for tasting. The Local Hive Nor Cal and the Local Hive So Cal are close
in floral notes, having access to the same flowers. I do see a color variance
in the two honeys with the Nor Cal being slightly darker in color. The floral
notes of alfalfa, berries, citrus, clover and sage are in both flavors. The taste
is similar with a smoother richness in the Nor Cal blend. Both are delicious!
The honey is raw and unfiltered and 100% pure! It is sourced
from the local hives. On the back label is a map showing the area the honey is sourced.
I am curious how other regions honey compares. It would be exciting to have a
honey tasting party with flavors from around the country. There are 19 regions
available!
