Halloween is only one week away…but have no fear because last-minute costume ideas are here. Online retailer zulily has compiled some fun and quick women’s DIY costume ideas, sure to bring uniqueness to any ghoulish or ghostly bash!
Sarah Ward, zulily’s Lead Editorial Stylist (bio below), has compiled some of her favorite costume ideas, utilizing items straight from you or your friend’s closets, to save both time and money during this busy time of year. Here are a few of our faves.
Deer
A faux fur vest with a neutral colored outfit make the best staples. To complete the look, add an antler headband created from foliage in your backyard or with artificial flowers.
Rosie the Riveter
A chambray shirt and jeans are all you need! To finish the look, just add a red bandana in your hair and top it off with some powerful red lips.
Sushi
An all-white outfit is the foundation for your “rice.” Tie a pink/orange ‘sashimi’ pillow with a simple black scarf around your waist. Add some green and pink flowers to your hair as “ginger” and “wasabi” and voila!
As Lead Editorial Stylist, Sarah manages a team of women’s stylists on zulily’s Editorial Studio team, responsible for producing on- and off-model imagery to create a visually compelling customer experience. Sarah develops style guides that helps curate the styling aesthetic of the zulily brand and liaises with the buying team to facilitate collaboration for cohesive content across the women’s product category.
Prior to her current role, Sarah was an Editorial Stylist, styling apparel and accessories for the zulily homepage, and was a Styling Assistant for Amazon Fashion. Outside of zulily, Sarah does freelance styling and artistic direction for photoshoots. Her work has been published in Seattle Magazine and Seattle Met Bride and Groom.
