Panettone is a leavened baked cake. It is a delightful
vanilla cake filled with raisins and chunks of candied citrus fruits. The
golden color is beautiful when sliced open to see the wonderful nuggets of raisins
and fruits. It is made in a classic dome shape with a wonderful light and airy
texture.
One of my family’s favorite ways to have Panettone, make it
into a French toast. Take a few slices, dipped in egg batter then make the French
toast. Super easy and full of flavor. I also love having a slice lightly toasted
then spread with butter.
The raisins and fruits are just the right amount inside to
give that classic Italian taste. The 2-pound size is generous enough for a few
servings. We like it for breakfast and for desserts. It goes deliciously with a
