Do you know someone suffering kidney disease or desperately needing a kidney transplant? A staggering 1 in 10 people have kidney disease, an estimated 26 million Americans, and there is an extremely high need for organ donors. Currently, there are approximately 120,000 people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant in the U.S., and of these, approximately 100,000 need a kidney transplant.
Just in time for National Women’s Week (May 14-20) and Men’s Health Awareness Month this June comes a PSA featuring Paul Rodriguez and Gloria Garayua, the stars of the Mendez National Institute of Transplantation Foundation (MNITF) multi-award-winning patient education series Fixing Paco.
MNITF is a public non-profit organization that adheres to its mission of advancing the science and practice of organ transplantation and end-stage organ disease therapies through research, education, and innovation. They just released the Get the Facts! Get Checked! Get Healthy! PSA campaign which encourages everyone to be proactive about their healthcare and prevent kidney disease.
The general public can get information about kidney disease and prevention, becoming an organ donor, and kidney transplantation at http://www.fixingpaco.org/
