It's almost time to head back to school. Educational Insights has lots of ways to help get your child prepared. One of my favorites is the Hot Dots. These educational books and flash cards are the perfect way to encourage your children with both reading and mathematics. The newest addition to the collection is a set of books featuring Pete the Cat.
Pete the Cat is a fun way for your kids to get a head start on reading. He's an adorable kitty holding his own guitar who offers kids encouragement as they go through the activities. The pen is compatible with all the Hot Dots products, which are books and flash cards that teach kids everything from colors to reading and math.
We received two different sets to try out:
Hot Dots® Jr. Pete the Cat® I Love Kindergarten! Set
Ages 5+, $24.99
Hot Dots® Jr. Pete the Cat® Kindergarten Rocks! Set
Ages 5+, $24.99
Each of the sets came with one pen and two books. The books are awesome and easy for kids to use independently Each page asks a variety of questions. For example, in the I love Kindergarten Set, there are challenges like picking out the smallest animal in the group or selecting which shapes are triangles. In the Kindergarten Rocks book, there are some math equations and places where you need to count the numbers of items in the picture. If the child guesses correctly, the pen lights up green and congratulates them. If they get it wrong, it turns red and encourages them to try again. I was especially happy that it worked with all my old Hot Dots set, because I have a bunch of them.
The Pete the Cat Pen operates using two AAA batteries. These are not included. The books are spiral bound so you won't loose any pages, and you also get some adorable stickers and a certificate.
Hot Dots, and especially the new Pete the Cat versions, are the perfect way for kids to learn and still have fun while they're doing it.
