Just Add Water and Change a Life on World Water Day - World Vision #Giveaway
Water is essential for healthy living, yet 748 million people lack access to clean water – the equivalent of nearly two and a half times the United States population. As a devastating effect, one child under the age of 5 dies every minute from diarrhea caused by contaminated water and unsafe hygiene. Take a look at World Vision’s clean water video for an inside look at the impact of the water crisis in one girl’s life. To address this crisis and to acknowledge the importance of water, the United Nations General Assembly declared March 22 as World Water Day in 1993.
In March, World Vision wants bloggers to help to spread awareness for people around the globe who need safe water. Last year, World Water Day posts reached up to 700 million people. This advocacy can help thousands more get clean water access each year.
One of the ways you can help is by making a purchase at World Vision. In particular, there are two products that were specifically created to raise awareness.
Blogger Exclusive: World Water Day Umbrella – Created specifically for bloggers behind World Vision’s 2015 World Water Day campaign, this blue umbrella serves as a practical reminder that rainwater is considered a precious resource for people that lack established water systems.
This is a great umbrella with a wide rim that will definitely keep you warm and dry. Yet, its also compact. My daughter is carrying it in her schoolbag in case she gets stuck in the rain walking home from the bus stop. With spring showers on the way, we can all use a good umbrella. Why not get one that helps provide water to those in need? (And yes, we opened an umbrella in the house since there's a blizzard outside right now. I don't believe in bad luck. We have a black cat too. LOL )
Royal Silk Scarf – From the World Vision Gift Catalog, this scarf is made with luxurious silk using Fair-Trade practices. The blend of soft colors emulates the purifying qualities of water and the vibrant life that it sustains.
This light weight scarf if perfect for spring and a powerful reminder of water with its swirl of blue and green colors. Its made from the softest silk and can add a splash of color to your spring wardrobe.
