My Thoughts
This is one of the coolest trains I have ever seen. You get all the fun of building your train track and riding the rails, but you also get to listen to music! Each of the train tracks represents a different note. When the train rides along the tracks, it plays the music. Assembly is super easy. The pieces snap right into place. It's a lot less frustrating than most of the train sets I've purchased in the past. It is a little complicated for the child to set the tracks in the right order to play the songs on their own, but as long as they have some adult supervision, they will be thrilled with the results. Along with your train, you get a book that gives you instructions on how to place the tiles. It plays seven different songs.
The train itself is really adorable and well made. The back has pretend coal included, but you can also fill it with the tiles or anything else that you can think of. It runs very well as long as the tracks are lined up evenly and goes around in a circle. It even comes with a little conductor. My three-year-old son adores anything that has to do with trains and he was just thrilled with his toy.
Normally this awesome train is $39.99, but right now its on sale for the insanely low price of only $9.99! And the Melody Express is only one example of hundreds of fun and educational toys available from Learning Resources. They have dozens of other wonderful gift ideas including board games, telescopes, microscopes, coin sets, reading games and more.
