Holiday Gift Guide - Elements for girls: A Fun & Engaging Self-Discovery Project

ELEMENTS is a self-discovery book and bracelet for tween and early teen girls. This unique book invites girls to read, reflect and complete simple, fun activities while exploring important elements of growing up such as self-acceptance, empathy, communication and friendship. The theme of self-care is woven into the book in sections on sleep, healthy eating and stress management. With original doodle art throughout the book, girls are encouraged to express themselves with color, drawings and writing to make the book their own. As chapters are completed, girls use the creative kit included to design their own unique bracelet. The bracelet elements - colorful hemp, beads and charms - cleverly remind girls of the chapter themes to reinforce what was learned. Written by women with extensive experience in working with adolescents and parenting their own daughters, paired with the input of countless girls who had a hand in the concept, themes and activities, ELEMENTS is sure to become a treasured resource and keepsake.

My thoughts:

This is an amazing book for young girls.  One that will keep them busy and teach them a little about themselves along the way.

My daughter absolutely loves this book.  It has kept her busy for hours for many days.  She really enjoys doing the activities in each chapter.  She has often heard me talk about Affirmations, and was tickled pink when where was a part on Affirmations in this book.  She recites them often to me.  The bracelet that she designed is beautiful and she hasn't taken it off yet.

What an empowering and inspiration book this is.  Well written, and easy for young girls to follow and understand the chapters as they read through it.  The activities make them think about themselves and write their truth on the pages.  And the bracelet that comes along with this book is such an important part of any girl after she makes it as her own.  After reading and doing the very educational yet fun activities, any young girl will know that she is such a beautiful self worth young lady.

There is only one thing that I hope.  And that is that Mary Ellen Young and Sandra McDonnell come out with a sequel to this book.
