My Thoughts
Still Mine is such a beautiful and touching story, made even more heartening by the fact that it's based on real events. Still mine is the story of an aging couple named Craig and Irene. As Irene begins to struggle with dementia, Craig sets out to build a smaller home where he knows he can care for her properly. Even though he's in his eighties, he does most of the work himself. A building inspector gives him grief over every little thing, but he struggles though and shows that no matter what your age, determination and having something worth fighting for are all you need to get things accomplished.
Still Mine proves that love can really last a life time. Oscar nominees James Cronwell and Genevieve Bujold both give striking performance. The sweet romance they share just emanates from the screen and gives me hope that soul mates are more than just a myth. The way Craig cares for Irene so lovingly through her bouts of dementia will touch anyone's heart. People of all ages should watch this film. It reminds us that our seniors are more capable then we think, and to treasure very moment we have with those we love.
