Holiday Gift Guide - Wear it Don't Bear It

As the anniversary of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut, approaches - Toby Milstein, continues to push ahead with her Make A Statement jewelry which donates 100% of the profits of each piece sold to the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation.

Milstein was only 19 when she felt the pain of those who lost loved ones to tragic gun shootings.  Milstein, from New York, is determined to create a movement one fashionable art piece at a time.  Although, she was not personally impacted by any of the gun violence, she feels the sorrow as if it were her own and wants to help in every way possible.  The first designed product, also made in New York, sold out in a record 48 hours.  The goal is, indeed, to continue building the awareness by expanding the "Wear it; Don't Bear it" brand into clothing and additional accessories for long-term financial assistance to those effected by such tragedies.  Her hope of wearing the jewelry is that it will continue to represent the "love" of those lost.

Currently the Necklaces are $29.95 and Bracelets are $24.95.

"I watched the shootings in Aurora, Colorado and shortly after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary school took place.  Enough was enough.  This senseless violence needs to stop and I thought the only way I could do something was to make a fashion statement. And so I made a simple necklace and bracelet.  I only did a small batch of them, and in only a number of hours, they were all sold out.  I knew that this was an issue my generation cared about.  In the sixties and seventies they had the war which led to protests, the SDS and the largest student strike in American history in response to the Kent State shootings. This is ours.  This is Tucson, This is Fort Hood, This is Aurora and This is Sandy Hook.  I want to do something about it, that’s why I'm doing this.  The mission?  I just want other people to wear it if they care. I don’t think it will happen overnight but with enough people, things can change.  If we all wear "Wear It: Don't Bear It", we are telling the other people who are too, that we're in this together. It's this feeling of solidarity on an issue of making a statement without saying a word."  -Toby Milstein
