Holiday Gift Guide: PlayMG - Review & #Giveaway

**This product was received for free in exchange for an honest review.**

About PlayMG:
A Portable Gaming System for Families - Kids Will Love, Parents Will Appreciate! The MG is an ultra-sleek, mobile gaming platform with a big 4" inch touch-screen that will connect you to the massive world of free Android games via Wi-Fi. MG is a great gift for kids who love video games. MG comes pre-loaded with great games from EA and Com2Us, including Need for Speed, NBA Jam, Tiny Farm and Slice It. The MG is light and features ergonomically designed rounded ends, perfect for two thumb, touch-screen gaming. MG is for those who want their own portable, pocketable device to play games on; but without the big expense of packaged video games or the monthly data plans that come with smartphones. The MG includes a proprietary notification function called "Remote Trust".

The feature allows parents to view their kid's activity (downloads, what apps are used, and even time spent on the MG device) from a distance. Add your email to the system at set-up and then you can receive updates on your computer or smartphone about your child's MG activity. MG has partnered with SpendSmart(TM) Prepaid MasterCard(R) - to provide a way for parents to control spending. This feature will allow parents to set up a reloadable debit account for their teens and then create "game allowances" that the teen can use for micro-transactions. No more putting your credit card at risk. No more being bothered for every $.99 purchase. (SpendSmart is only available in the US market).

Some Specs:
  • Ultra-Sleek, Big 4" Touch Screen Android Gaming System
  • Google Play Store Access, Wireless Internet (WiFi: 802.11b/g/n), includes 8GB microSD card
  • Plays Audio File Formats: MP3, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WAV, and WMA
  • Plays Videos File Formats: AVI, DivX, H.264, and MPEG4

Our Thoughts:
When you look at everything out there for kids today, the one thing lacking has been a hand held device they can take with them. A smart phone with out the phone! How many times do you end up giving your phone over to your child so they can play games, and drain your battery? Well, PlayMG has created a kid friendly player that has everything your phone offers, it just doesn't call people!
Android can give kids can get almost any game they want! The only limits are if you're willing to pay for them, and if they're age appropriate for your child. The game scene for kids has come a long way, this isn't your run of the mill, game cartridge only hand held. You can do pretty much anything you want on this! Even adults will find something they enjoy when testing this out!
The touch screen is awesome! There isn't a calibration mode, which would be nice; however, I found that even without calibrating the screen, it's pretty much right on when you tap. Everything transitions smoothly and without issue. Typing is easy as well, the letters are good size. I don't find myself stumbling to hit the correct letters.

There are pre-loaded games, which is nice. Kiddo's will love the graphics. Games like Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and NBA Jam are games that most kids really enjoy playing! Easy to control, your child will love playing games on the PlayMG. Being rand by Android, you can download books, music, videos, etc. No worrying about wasting minutes either, as this device is wifi only!

Have someone that lives far away, and you don't get to see often? With a forward facing camera you can video chat or send pictures! This is every child's dream device this holiday season!

With a pre-paid card, you can load money on, they can learn to be responsible with their money.
