Protect Your Pet with Blanket ID: The Ultimate Stocking Stuffer for the Pet Parent

There is nothing in this world more important to me than my dogs. (I'm a pet parent). So I was eager to try this new way of protecting my pampered pooch. It's really very cool; all the benefits of a microchip, but if you're anything like me, the idea of putting a microchip in a living creature is weird. I wouldn't want to be chipped!

This little tag from Blanket ID goes right on their dog collar. It has a unique ID number on it. And when someone finds your pet, all they have to do is go to the blanket ID site and enter that number, and it will pull the pet's personal data. I was able to enter all of Lola's information: coloring, markings, breed, age, illness, diet, cautions with handling, rabies, etc. And a picture. Being able to that data in for anyone who may find her is a great bonus for me, as my Lola has some problems a finder would need to know, such as how to pick her up due to her bad back and what to feed her due to her digestive troubles. This stuff is important, because I not only want my dog back, I want her back healthy.

If--Heaven forbid--Lola ever runs away, I can immediately log on to the site from my laptop or my cell phone and not only report her missing to all the Blanket ID users out there, but have posters made. And when I report her missing, they make sure emails about her go to all local animal shelters, pounds, etc.

96% of lost pets with an activated Blanket ID tag are found the same day.
Another bonus: More than 15% of their profits support animal welfare organizations. You even choose which organization you wish to support.

You do have to pay an activation/year's fee of 24.99 when you buy the tag. After that, it's 7 to 12 a year.

Here's a video I found helpful:

Cons: If your pet loses his/her collar, they use their blanket ID and all bets are off. That is why it's recommended we chip...but...well, I expressed my feelings on that above. I also know that sometimes chipping doesn't work, but that's a story for another day.

Is this worth looking into for that pet parent in your life? Or even for yourself for peace of mind? Yes, it is. Thankfully, as I write this review, I have NOT had reason to utilize the site's services any further. My Lola has not ran away and forced me to utilize a huge dog-hunt...*knock on wood* but I appreciate that she's wearing the tag should the need arise. And really, you can't put a price on peace of mind. So consider this small-enough-for-a-stocking gift for that easily worried pet person.
