Its finally happening! The little hamsters that swept the nation up in their furry frolic are starring in their very first movie--The Quest for Zhu. My kids have collected all the Zhu Zhu Pets over the last few years and they were thrilled to hear about the new movie. They were even more excited when Mom Select sent us a copy of the movie to preview. I could barely get them to finish their homework, they were so excited, and the film was not a disappointment.
In The Quest for Zhu, Pipsqueak runs away from home because she is feeling unappreciated by her human owner. When she leaves, she gets swept away to the other side of the Zhu Universe. There she meets some other teen hamsters including Chuck, Num Nums, and Mr. Squiggles. They all go to visit the Palace of Zhu, but that is just the beginning of their magical journey. Each of the Zhu Zhu pets has a special quest, like finding the ultimate wave or being reunited with the humans they love. But the evil reptilian creature, Mezhula, tries to stand in their way, and the little hamsters need to find the strength to overcome her and find their way back home. Along the way, they sing lots of toe tapping songs and meet a few new friends to help them with their task.
My kids and I really enjoyed this family friendly film, and I know it is going to become one of our favorites. I am already humming the songs while I'm writing this. Our favorite part of the movie was seeing the beautiful Palace of Zhu. But they also travel to lots of other magical places like Carrot Forest and Snow Mountains. We loved all the little hamsters, but I have to say that Num Nums was our favorite, mostly because every time someone said her name, my toddler started to look for her snacks because she calls them her "num nums."
The Quest for Zhu is a wonderful film for kids of all ages. Its not only entertaining, but teaches kids the valuable lesson to not take your family for granted. While you're waiting for the DVD to be released, take a few minutes to check out the Quest for Zhu website. There you will find lots of interactive fun like sneak peek videos, wallpaper, a photo gallery and more. The DVD will be hitting shelves in store nationwide starting September 27th. Be sure to pick up a copy for your kids. And remember, its the Zhu Zhu Pets first movie, but it definitely won't be their last!
