The Cosmos - A Beginners Guide DVD Box Set Review

My husband loves space documentaries, so he was very excited to have the chance to review The Cosmos - A Beginners Guide, which will debut on DVD from Athena on March 29th, 2011. This exciting series gives you an exciting look at what is going on the universe we live in. Hosted by author, broadcaster and educator Adam Hart Davis, this six part series is available on DVD in America for the very first time.

There were a few things I liked about this series. First, each episode is only about half an hour, which is just enough info without being overwhelming. And I also thought it was told in a way that was easy for the average person to understand. Some of the space documentaries require a PHD to know what they are talking about. But with The Cosmos, you can sit back and learn something new without needing to break out the encyclopedia. You will learn where the universe came from, where its headed, and if there is a possibility of life on other planets. The box set comes with two discs that includes the following episodes:

Episode 1: Life is the Cosmos
Episode 2: Building the Universe
Episode 3: Seeing the Universe
Episode 4: Space Exploration
Episode 5:Violent Universe
Episode 6: Other Worlds

In addition to the full set of six episodes, the DVD set also includes  a 12 page viewer's guide with the life cycle of a star and articles on the European Space Agency and more as well as a gallery of Apollo astronauts. If you love a good documentary on the many mysteries of space, than this is the box set for you. You can order The Cosmos - A Beginners Guide for only $39.99 at Acorn Media.
