Meet Dosha Bar! #Giveaway & #Discount Code

I wanted to introduce you to Dosha Bar, they are a product we featured recently in a BuddhiBox, and they are new on the market. They're a 100% organic, unsweetened fruit and seed bar.

This bar is a little different than all the others, which is why I chose to feature them in BuddhiBox. First, they have very clean ingredients. Dosha Bar uses unsweetened fruit (most dried fruit is covered in sugar or apple juice concentrate), very little sweetener (pretty much the last ingredient on the list), and no preservatives, flavorings, or lab-made powders such as fiber, fruit, or protein. Bottom line is that it tastes great and digests like real food, unlike most bars I've had.

Second, the Dosha Bar brand imagery and packaging is beautiful. As important, it hits the nail on the head in it's connection with yoga, unlike so many brands that simply try to put an asana or a buddha on a package and miss the point. Dosha Bar's brand connects through yoga's sister science, Ayurveda.  Each bar is made with ingredient combinations that balances one of the 3 "doshas" (Ayurvedic mind-body types) and the site even offers consumers an online quiz to help find their dominant "dosha" and get life balance tips with recommendations for activities and food ingredients to balance them.  It's a pretty cool, unique idea for a food product!

My Thoughts:

I was excited to try the three varities of the Dosha Bar. The concept of the product is so unique and interesting. I love learning about yoga and it always relaxes me when I take part in it. The idea of these bars helping the balancing process truly intrigued me. They arrived in a sweet drawstring burlap bag. Below are pictures of each bar and what I thought of them:

Blueberry Balance (Pitta):

This was one of my favorite bars in the bunch. It helps to balance Pitta. It's sweet, tasty and very relaxing. As I ate the bar, I felt a bit more grounded, calm and centered. I was surprised! The blueberries give the bar a sweet texture, with a energy boost from the added seeds that include Sunflower Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Puffed Amaranth, Dates and Raisins. There is also a dash of Cinnamon, Brown Rice Syrup and Quinoa Crisps. This the ideal comfort food that is actually good for you!

Cran Apple Awakening (Kapha):

If you are looking for a treat that will wake you up, this is for you! This bar is zesty to the max and helps to balance Kapha! I loved it. The ingredients include a seed mixture of Sunflower Seeds, Hemp Seed Hearts, Quinoa Crisps, Buckwheat, Chia Seeds. There is also a nice fruit blend of Plums, Apples, Cranberries. There is a nice sweet burst too from the organic honey. This is ideal for those that need that extra boost in the morning or during the day.

Cherry Chakra (Vata):

Cherry Chakra had a unique flavor. It was a mixture of tangy and sweet, and quite hearty. The taste of seed mixture stands out the most in the bar. It contains Pumpkin Seeds, Hemp Seed Hearts, Sesame Seeds, and Quinoa Crisps. There was a nice variety of fruits as well including Cherries, Dates, Plums, and Apples. There's a little dash of Sea Salt, Brown Rice Syrup and Organic Sunflower Oil. The bar helps to balance Vata, assisting in feeling focused, at ease and grounded.

I really enjoyed what Dosha Bar represents and you can't beat the flavors. These are bars that are not only healthy, but delicious. Each one is successful in its mission to balance each area it covers. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves yoga, is looking to get involved in it, or is simply looking for a nutritious treat.

Ozery Bakery One Bun Review.

These preservative-free, thin sandwich buns are made in hand batches to reflect the process of baking by hand. They are completely non-GMO, vegan, allergen-friendly, soy-free, dairy-free, peanut-free and nut-free (made in a nut-free facility).

Other “skinny” sandwich buns on the market are made with dough conditioners, loaded with chemicals and additives and focus solely on being a 100 calorie product. Ozery Bakery’s One Buns offer a host of nutritional benefits, being high in protein and fiber and low in calories and fat.

For example, the One Bun Multigrain contains 7g of protein and 4g of fiber per serving and is made with flax seeds, sunflower seeds, barley, grits, and rolled oats. They also contains vitamins and minerals such as calcium, thiamin, niacin, folate, magnesium, iron, riboflavin, vitamin B, phosphorus and zinc.
  My Thoughts:

Ozery Bakery was kind enough to send me multiple samples of the large variety of buns they make. They were all so delicious, hearty, and had that fresh from the bakery taste and texture. Below, I have attached a picture of each as well as what I thought when I tried them.

One Bun Spelt Organic- Anyone who is looking for an organic bread or bun will adore these! They are made of certified organic spelt flour. They're low in sodium and a great source of fiber, vitamin b, niacin, phosphorus and magnesium. Although they contain wheat, I would say they taste similar to a blend of white and wheat bread together. Very delicious! What I love is that they're a wonderful size for larger sandwiches, as well as toast, dipping strips, or pizzas.

One Bun Organic Wheat Thins- Out of all of the buns, these were my favorite! They have six grams of protein per serving. A plus side is they're also low fat, heart healthy and a good source of fiber. The taste is hearty and a bit sweet. They're very soft and chewy. A great addition for burgers and sandwiches!

One Bun Original Multi Grain- The Original One Bun is the perfect addition to anyone that loves multi grains. You'll notice with the first bite that the bun is flavorful and nutritious. You can clearly see the grains throughout the bun. There are seven grams of protein per serving. These are also low in fat and provide a nice serving of fiber.

One Bun Multi Grain Sliders- Although these slider buns may be small, there is nothing small about their flavor! These are wholesome and bursting with multi grain taste. The best part is they're only 70 calories and free of artificial preservatives! There's a nice crunch to the grains, but the bun itself is soft. These will add a great kick to any sliders you decide to make or be a quick and filling snack.

One Bun Whole Wheat 100 Calorie- Soft, chewy, and a natural taste describe these buns. The wheat is cut finely and the bun still feels like a normal slice of bread despite being 100 calories. They're low in fat and contain no trans fat either. Perfect for sandwiches, a panini, pizzas, burgers, or a quick snack.

Mamma Chia Review & #Giveaway

mamma chia ceo and founder, janie hoffmanIt started on a small farm in rural San Diego, where Mamma Chia founder and CEO, Janie Hoffman, in her quest to find an ideal diet for her own health, fell in love with the magic of chia. Janie quickly discovered this amazing little seed was providing a powerful vitality boost and was instrumental in addressing some challenging health issues related to longstanding autoimmune disorders. Janie believes that there are several components to a healthy and joy-filled life and no one thing holds all the answers, but there is no doubt that once she incorporated chia into her daily diet there was a very noticeable increase in her vitality, energy and strength. Janie became so enchanted with these little seeds that she was literally adding them to everything in her kitchen and giving away chia treats to everyone she knew or crossed paths with, but it was her chia beverages that became the biggest hit with her friends and family. In addition to finding the beverages to be fun and delicious, they also experienced a noticeable increase in vitality. In the summer of 2009, fueled by her passion for chia and her commitment to be of service to humanity and the planet, Janie founded Mamma Chia — the first organic, chia-based food and beverage company. In addition to her love of chia, Janie and her husband, Lance, enjoy growing Hass avocados and pineapple guavas on their small farm with their cuddly kitty, Sparky, and their sweet dogs, Yogi and Bodhi.

Our Thoughts

I thought I was simply getting a sample of the Chia & Greens beverage, and I was stoked to get them, you would be too, just look at what all they contain!

Chia & Greens is a delicious, fun on-the-go beverage with one of the lowest amounts of sugar and the highest amount of nutrients in the green drinks universe. In fact, each bottle delivers 2500mg of Omega-3s, seven grams of fiber, four grams of complete protein, 25% RDA of Vitamin A, and 95mg of calcium. Enjoy it as a kick-start to your day, as a revitalizing mid-afternoon pick-me-up or anytime you want that feeling of rejuvenation!

That was not the case however. This is what I received! Excited doesn't even begin to describe it!

Green Chia Drink comes four flavors, ginger + lemongrass, kale + mint, beet + ginger and cayenne and lemon. All of them had a very similar taste as the underlying note but the added ingredients were there, subtle, but there. My favorite was the cayenne and lemon. The drink was easy to swallow, like a thing yogurt. I thought I might have trouble getting it down because of the consistency but that wasn't the case at all. Very easy to drink, tasted good and I loved knowing I was drinking an organic superfood that would fuel my body correctly!

I love how the Chia Squeeze packages are like the rainbow, I am a sucker for anything rainbow colored. Mango coconut was my favorite, I love tropical flavored anything. The packages are small and portable so it's really easy to take it on the go. I would throw one in my lunch bag and take it with me for lunch. I didn't get to taste all the flavors myself because my daughter pretty much snuck into all of them. She LOVED them and asked me every day if there were more items for her to try. My youngest son drank an entire package himself and was upset when it was all gone. I like how the top screws back on these packages too. It's a neat design even for a reusable drink container.

The Vitality Granola is the most versatile. We much on those whenever we're hungry and it doesn't take a lot to fill you up because of how nutritious chia seeds are and the fact they expand once inside your digestive tract too. Very filling. I would eat these on my break to time me over until lunch time. No more hunger-headache for me! With the package of chia seeds I've experimented by throwing them into meatloaf (no one could tell!) and making chia seed pudding with coconut milk and honey. Very delicious and nutritious.

The bars very tasty as well. The mixing and matching of different flavors is unique and the amount of just real food packed into each bar is astounding. This is what real snacking should look like. Not everyone has the time to make their own granola though so having a superfood organic option is amazing. I highly recommend the Mamma Chia brand to any health-foodie!

One lucky winner is going to receive this same Mamma Chia package to try for themselves. To enter, just fill out the Giveaway Tools form below. Open to the US only. Giveaway will end May 20, 2016. The winner will be notified via email and will have 48 hours to reply. Thanks again to Mamma Chia for offering this fantastic prize.
